    1. Would be curious to know if he served in GSWA or GEA for WW1, or if he was a pre war colonial...
    2. First one is fine IMHO, have seen another one just like it ages ago, I would be happy with it. 2nd one ... hmmm... I dont know anythng about TK stamps, but these were signed sometimes by rather low officers ... After my usual - initial- "not good" thought.... I begin to think they are both good.
    3. Try Gordon Bickley at... bickley@telkomsa.net costs a little, but worth it.
    4. But notice the different styles. I would say IF a collector had done it, they would have been the same. my rough guess is the wearer proudly had his done after WW1... then got the WW2 medal, and tried to get it engraved as close as possible to the WW2 one. Sometimes even a small pair is a nice pair :-) This is very nice and I bet you could get the WW1 medal card.
    5. See... now if they had made it over the GSWA border!!! glad to help :-)
    6. I would even hazard a Guess that Mr)Mrs Scott had the BWM named between WW1 and WW2 and the other one after WW2?
    7. I knew I had it somewhere. I got this in the military archives in Pretoria. I would say that the engraving is original. Who would mount medals in this (very possible) combination? and engrave them WO rank and regiment? I assume it was not a soldier?
    8. In South Africa WW1 People like lighthouse keepers could get a single medal, harbour masters to I think.
    9. To early for me but sounds really really interesting....
    10. Still, there is a feeling that someone copied someone here........
    11. Hi, I think it may have to do with the French running out of diplomas for the 5th? No idea, just a wild guess....
    12. Many times when I hear folks talking about their "deeds" in wars I think to myself... "You are so full of sh1t..." This is just one of those cases that cut to the bone...
    13. Hi, Equiv of PFC 1st class. Mine was only awarded 3-4 years ago, maybe the clerk made an error. (maybe there were no 5th class left) Best Chris
    14. All seem to be made with the same die, can it be the US ones only have a different pin? Best Chris
    15. I find the Nato ones silly like the UN ones. A logical step would have been one UN medal for all campaigns, with bars. Ditto for the NATO medal. Nothing more impressive than a silver IGSM with bars... As much as I like medals, I think UN and NATO have led to extreme medal bar inflation. Just my humble 2c..
    16. I have a couple of these, but just one baseplate. I feel better displaying it without a baseplate now!
    17. Nice, I would have thought it was a football assoc.
    18. Hi, the problem is that in softer ground it would be pushed into the ground without the plate. On the solid ersatz base it could work. Best Chris
    19. I recieved a 4th class, I think that was the same for all French soldiers? Happily for me the French allowed both Saudi AND Kuwait versions, but objectively it is overkill and medal bar inflation. It simply means 3 medals for the same thing. The quality of these is also putrid, I think the Kuwaiti"s were screwed by the folks that had the contracts... or they did not want to pay a lot....
    20. They dont seem to fit anywhere... They are not Flak, they are not Surface fleet and they are not ground warfare.... Maybe including them would be a good mercy act on Gordons part..... :-)
    21. The Fantastic career of Charles Ross in Harry's Africa.... http://www.kaiserscross.com/188001/203101.html
    22. Could the enamle have been done AFTER the bending? i.e. it came from the factory like that?
