    1. I can only make out the guys first name... will try and scan it today sometime...
    2. The XVI was the "argonne" Korps... in late 1916 the Alpenkorps high command stayed in place in Verdun while the fighting troops (the large % of Bavarian J?gers were included in these)were pulled out to reform and re-equipe... in the XVI Korps area. The fighting troops of the XVI Korps passed under the control of the Alpenkorps. So with the stamps in this we can narrow it down to a specific month and a half in 1916 when they were getting kitted out and reformed in the XVI Korps area before leaving the western front for Roumania :-)
    3. A thought... the commander of the 1st J?ger Brigade ?
    4. Hi, thanks for the offer... I will whip up a list of the most important and try not to abuse of the offer (I have maaaaaany , maaaaany things to look at....). best Chris
    5. Ole willy used to be a greeeeeat favourit amongst the cartoonists back in the war... noone wore a visor hat quite like him....
    6. A fine looking medal... not AS nice as a MC in a black background ;-) ... but a good looking gong indeed.
    7. Was it the group that channeled the shot down airmen to the Spanish border? Best Chris
    8. And after that the rumours of dubious goings on with sheep in the local constanularies were put to rest due to lack of evidence.... or so i heard.......
    9. It must be Freudian... deeeeep down this guy dreamed of being a bayer......
    10. Kortewilde is in belgium and the Korps fought there in 1914 (I assume, I have not had time to read up on it. best Chris
    11. Here was an X-Mas gift by Vogel and von Grueber, two Autokorps freiwilliger and I assume rather wealthy men. The recipient was a sgt in the Staff of the XXII Reserve-Korps where the two were serving... I assume they shelled out for a nice leather wallet/milit?rpass holder for all the members of the staff....
    12. The cockades are not the sew on types but seen to be on splints or split pins. Needless to say, I am a very happy boy to have gotten this...
    13. This piece is A1 ok..... But how did the markings get into the hat?
    14. I cut the bottom of, it is from the "Kunstverlag Hermann Toussaint in Berlin-Friedenau.
    15. Found this large, original photo on the fleamarket today.... Kronprinz Wilhelm with what I assume is his prewar rack?
    16. Any idea who else could have been a full colonel? (Ralf von Rango..... sounds like the bad guy ina german made Western ..... ;-)
    17. A question to the rank on the tunic... I was trying to figure out who it could have been... The usual bavarian J?ger unit is a batln. The 1st, 2nd and 2nd Reserve never had a full colonel. The 2nd had a Lt col for the first 2 months of the war... after that all three had mainly Majors, often Captains and sometimes Oblts commanding them. The parent 1st J?ger Regt had a Lt Col for a time, but usually commanded by Majors. That leaves the 1st reserve but I dont see a Colonel commanding that. The only other possibility I see would be maybe J?ger regt 3, which had Bavarian elements. Maybe Chip can help there?
    18. Another one forced on me... I assume it is the 1839 medal? Not a big ticket item but the ones I have found online seem to be a not as nice quality? And this one is really thick. Does anyone know anything about these? Thanks Chris
