    1. These ones I still have and cannot part with them ;-)
    2. Hi, they are a dark green. I am not sure if that helps date them, I think Feldgrau was used later,
    3. The canadians have a coin with a red poppy on it for WW1.
    4. Or a "shaver"? http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=16917
    5. I think this is in Aschaffenburg, no year to the photo... any ideas? Thanks Chris
    6. Hi, according to the write up in the Alpenkorps book it was meant for the picklehaube and Tschako's as well as the hats... I would imaginr the Leibers had it as well ... Maybe only in the field grey cover then?
    7. Hi, The bavarian J?gers in the Alpenkorps had them, and I believe the 10th reserve J?gers... I just cannot find a decent pic of it now that I am looking for it :-(
    8. Its the first one I have noticed outside of Geisler... Best Chris
    9. I am wondering on my Tschako, it is missing the air vent top left, and no sign in any other place of there having being a badge poked through... I wonder if the badge was positioned in the vent hole somehow? Best Chris
    10. Hi, I have just merged two topics, so a number of items may be posted twice in this thread. thanks Chris
    11. The amount of joy I am having looking at this would be illegal in any public places here in Europe and would probably get you arrested in certain states in the USA (even if in private).
    12. It is a faaaaar way from being the prettiest.... but for me it is historically the most relevant.......
    13. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !!!!!!!!!!!!
    14. I am not sure how to work this out... How many officers (proportionally) in the period 1914-18 would have worn a prussian standard Picklehaube (active and reserve together) compared to those who would have worn a bavarian J?ger Tschako? Maybe 400 or 500 : 1? Best Chris
    15. I am close to Bernhard and Chip... although a bit different.... Also Mountains and or Alpenkorps... I actually picked one up this weekend.... A Tschako to the 2nd or 2nd reserve Bavarian J?gers.... also Alpenkorps.... :-))))))))))
    16. A loooooong shot indeed..... The 12th Bavarian Infantry Regt was in Neu-Ulm, the men got many W?rtt. decorations. The units of its 2nd division in which it was had many men from Augsburg. There was a Lt. d.R. Burkhart in the 11th company of the 12th b.I.R. I have a 1920 EK1 doc to Leutnant d.R. Franz Burkhardt from Augsburg in Bayern. It was issued by the W?rtt. Bezirks Kommando in Ulm .a.D. Geographically close... would you guys guess a typo in the name? Anyone have anything listed for him (I guess probably not....)
    17. Hi, It would very probably be a man who had the medal and was at the Ersatz Battalion back in A#berg in Feb -June 1916. More than that there is not to know.... More to follow...
    18. "Magnum! Oh my God!!!" "Whats up Higgie Baby... I did not know you were in the Imperial German army!" "Well... I am a bit older now...."
    19. Watch the politics angle guys.....
