    3. Hi, The question is if they would have had most of their kit with them, or would it have been with the "gefechts Baggage".... if so, it is possible that a whole companies kit was left somewhere to rot..

    9. I think they probably just aimed for nice design, as opposed to considering austrian style, it is hard to find a nice design with the ribbon...
    10. Maybe the Medialle Militaire was added to sexy it up? If he had WW1 French service he would have had the war medal and victory medal as well. The Croix de Guerre was awarded for all actions that were part of WW1, Bulgaria, dardanelles etc. best Chris
    11. This is an interesting unit, cannot find much info on them, must have been in Alsace....
    12. This is quite an interesting variation... I have lots of documents with colour, but none in Gold coloured print....

    15. There were a number of reasons to suppose these guys were attatched to the HQ, not least because the Lehr Inf regt had during the war developed the practise of delegating the filling out of documents to the lowest possible officer ;-)
    16. Seems many soldierds did not have the big leather rigs, just a small loop on the holster....
