    1. I wonder if one did the demographics, if the Schutzwall Ehrenzeichen is waaaaay more represented on bars of Germans with home bases along the French Frontier? I imagine a Division from Hamburg would not really have had a chance to get them?
    2. Indeed yes, born 1890.... so 50 at the time.... (feels scary to think thats my next round birthday.... time flies!!)
    3. I dont want to sound negative, but some shows in Germany have displays done by collectors, usually concentrating on a theme and meaning to educate people about some militaria aspect. The text is really all past tense. Carbon dating would not proove anything, I myself use old boards to mount things, there are plenty around and it is better than throwing them away. No Matter when this was done, it is still very interesting. Best Chris
    4. Nr.1/XVI. A.K. -- Et. Insp. 5, 1. Patr. Et. Insp. 3 From this list provided by Chip.... http://www.kaiserscross.com/169043/169022.html so, in the 5th Armee Rear Area with one Patrol in the neighbouring 3. Armee rear. Here is a short write up.... http://www.kaiserscross.com/76001/166401.html
    5. Hi, it is indeed all past tense, along the lines of "The thickness of the metal was officially determined, but the makers did not always follow the rules" That being said, it is a very interesting card.
    6. I think you may need to look at the Arielli angle... Date of Death: February 29, 1944 Circumstances: Missing in Action, presumed dead. He went missing during a fighting patrol. Action: Arielli Location of Burial:
    7. Is there any mention in the pages before and after of any other places?
    8. Hi, Am trying to figure out exactly which Prussian awards had the same Ribbon as an Iron Cross ... which ones shared the Black and white ribbon from about 1900 till 1918 ? Thanks Chris
    9. Hi, content is all subjective.... i.e. I am trying to collect one to every infantry regiment.... so ones I dont have are interesting... even MORE so for bavarian infantry regiments, as there i am trying to collect not only one to every regiment...but also all the variations used by them.... So if i say "XX is a really cool one..." Irishgunner, our resident infanphobe would say "hah!" its not even artillery!!!"
    10. HI, Maybe an EK1 muuuch later.. back in 1914, when everyone thought the war would be over pretty soon, there seems to have been a major rush to decorate badly wounded officers before they died.... This is the 3rd Group I have that pooints to that....
    11. A very nice cross section... a couple I find nice because of the prints, and a couple because of the content... shows what a diverse field award documents are!!
    12. Hi, not thaaaat much, but the EK doc had caught my eye, and the rest just had to be to complete it.
