    1. It bears mentioning... we still have not found a white ribboned cross to serving military in any capacity... I dont think it exists...
    2. If he was working outside of Germany, in the occupied areas or behind the front in any official capacity... Black ribbon... even is 200 KMs from the fighting. Best Chrid
    3. See "whats new" again today.....
    4. Hi, My theory is (for 14-18) , anyone outside the borders of the Reich got a black ribbon, whether Nurse, Stormtrooper, General or Padre. Inside Germany Officials and Civilians got a white ribbon and Military a black. There is a pretty good thread on this somewhere. best Chris
    5. Anyone have any to add? Thanks Chris
    6. Aaaaaaaanyone have the first edition? Thanks Chris
    7. Anyone out there collecting photos of the simple man wearing the EK in the buttonhole... a good cheap thing to collect.... I am thinking of it...
    8. Dang, Dang, Dang.... I was bidding on a white ribboned cross document on Ebay... then saw the seller had 2 other auctions with documents to the guy that I really did not need. Being a moralist I cancelled my bid so I would not be the one responsible for splitting the group :-(
    9. Here is the document for Prinz Adalbert of Bavarias black wound badge And a link to a description of the action http://www.kaiserscross.com/40312/149901.html
    10. A great piece. i am not sure if the forum section is the right one, but it has a place on the forum I would suggest... box up ALL your souvenirs... and look at them again in 20 years. I stupidly traded away all my souvenirs for German stuff when I was still in the Army and the couple of years that followed. Nowdays I would kill to get it all back. Dont trade or give any of it away... today its junk... in 20 years you will want it for the den.
    11. hmmmmm... the goat scenario must bring back members to old soldiers? I think its is probably sheep hair, sent as aphrodisiacs to commonwealth soldiers as part of their X-Mas package... the "FA" actually means "From Australia"
    12. The French one at the bottom seems to be from the shortest period...
    13. Here is the list.... Lets see your variations...
    14. Thanks for all the efforts and info guys. My long shot hope was it would have been attributable to a German of higher rank. I guess we will never know for sure, the best bet being the Austrians. With that it will go into the trade box. maybe an Austrian collector can use it. Best Chris
    15. Gold TSF badge is a version of the WW1 badge for personel qualified in Signals/Morse code etc. Used to be worn on the left shoulder board.
    16. Standard dress uniform shoulder boards (left is the older style, right the more modern) Usually only for dress and must be in perfect condition, the middle one is well, well worn as we wore them on the combat uniform in Bosnia for some reason.
    17. I think he means someone on another forum claimed to have seen the documents but he himself does not believe it. best Chris
    18. Thats my thoughts condensed into 2 lines :-)
    19. Hi, 1) Did they also produce for the civilian market? 2) For the military, did they not go for functional and cheap? i.e. Designs hand painted usually raises the cost of an item, something the military tends to avoid. 3) Most military barracks have many items that are not "Issue", Our regimental bar and company clubs had glasses, plates and dishes bought on the civilian market as I am sure do similar things on base all over the world. I dont doubt that this was found there... I just wonder if it can be seen as "Official issued item" best Chris
    20. Car numberplates from here start with "TBB ..." apparently stands for "Tausend bl?de Bauern..."
    21. Buy it now always gives the "Quick!! Quick!!" panic botton. http://cgi.ebay.de/ZAHRINGER-LOWEN-ORDEN-I...1QQcmdZViewItem Who reads the fine print... in this case the size? I almost hit BUY before I figured... hmmmm... maybe its a miniature....
