    1. Some time after the war many soldiers had these done, they usually had the information copied from the Militaerpass and stamped by some person of trust to confirm the correct entries. I am sure it is not a rule, but I usually see these for Bavarian soldiers, and occasionaly from towns near the bavarian border.... maybe the Northern Germans dont like Kitsch...

    9. Hi, the general idea is..... Folks tend to stick to their specialist forums.... someone collecing W2 German may never see your group posted here in Easten Block... Buuuut... the "Themes" section is crosses borders, a thread can have all countries and all epochs... It increases the exposure to folks who would usually not see certain things because they are in sections they dont visit.
    10. Hey guys, trying to get a large cross section of items on this thread, anything you can contribute would be great !! Any wars, any Epoch... http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=12051

    16. It is indeed unusual, but I think the brit and Irish army works differently to others. They have many long serving privates, especially if they stay in field units.
    17. I think that shade of blue used for "Exemplary is a bit darker than the rest. As a document collector it makes me a little wary..... In the legion it was the same... you signed a 5 year contract, any time spent in the glass house was added onto the 5 years.... although i have never seen anyone who managed to stretch it out to 21 years.....
    18. OK.... let us in on the secret.... How many drunken brawls do you need to get into to stay a Private for 21 years ;-)
    19. I need to get one eventually.... Are there Variations, official issues, copies etc. wtc? How can one regcognise a "ggod" one? Thanks Chris
