    2. How far did one get with 2.50 FF ?
    3. It is basically the men from room 58 of the Fu?. Art. Regt. 8's 2nd Recruit depot.
    4. My initial reaction was to bid on it, but a quick look in the books says the germans hoisted the white flag in August 1914, so there was no "Abt. Gef. Stand. Lome" in Mid 1915 or later....
    5. Check out the fake Colonial EK doc on his other auctions.. http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=12024&hl=
    6. http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...y0%3D%26fvi%3D1 This looked really interesting and off the wall... What a pity it is a dud... :-( Is anyone aware of ANY Togo EKs being awarded?
    7. I am green with envy on this one.... A nice find indeed.....
    8. Early 1957 pieces had the same hinge and frames... And you could probably have ordered whatever core you wanted.
    9. Before reading your comment I thought 3rd Reich as well....
    10. A wonderful little rarity. How did you find it? All the best Chris
    11. If only it was so easy !!! A friend is the next village found it for me. It is one of those anonymous little groups that would usually be split by the first collector who got them, but for me the photograph is enough of a "Binder" to keep then together. Best Chris
    12. Nope... a lot of hard work and selling... and the MG08 will be here by the end of November :-))))) You really must come around and play some time ;-)
    13. This may be of interest... http://rapidttp.com/milhist/vol064jk.html
    14. This is very much worth a look at... An article about the medal http://rapidttp.com/milhist/vol013ts.html

    16. Hi, He is not listed as a GSWA officer either... I will look into their publications! Thanks Chris
    17. NHice, nice nice... I now know I need to get some Tongs. Missing from mine is the box, bottom right, for the bottom of the spare barrel. On my sled there is the stamp A VS 928 on the one side, and 13 on the other The A VS are stamped on 3 times, all in all, always a seperate A and VS together. Will come back to this thread for tips as I get ma things up and running....
    18. U with thwe arrow is the Union Army stamp, so they were in Service after 1910. In 1914 the South Africans were getting the regular WW1 Lee Enfiled, although they did buy thousands of portugese mausers... I guess yours were used between the boer war and WW1. Nice indeed... I would kill for one of them...
    19. Any mention of a "Karl Storck" ??? Thanks Chris
    20. Just found a great site about vickers guns... http://www.vickersmachinegun.org.uk/ This seems to be a small parts wallet, where the exchange parts were kept in. the catch and buckle were removed. I have no proof, but I would bet this was "souveniered " by a German who removed the buckles and used it as a wallet, during and long after the war. It is in the style of wallets of those days and without the buckle must have served its purpose well.
    21. Yes i know.... for papers of some kind... that much I guessed
    22. Ed, You have had more of these than I have, do you see any problem with the loose bar? A reservation was raised about 1) he has only Gooj on the Roll, and 2) the clasps were obviously recently mounted. I think 1) the medal was issued with Gooj and the lugs capped. Then he was given auth for the Chili bar and it was to late to mount it, so it became a slip on. 2) I dont think there is a way to tell with silver WHEN something was done to it. It looks all neat and logical to me. I think if someone wanted to mess with this he would have taken the perfect bars from the medal of a lesser unit to mount on the 24th foot and put these on the other one (By "lesser" I mean "cheaper" unit). Anyway, in my mind it is logical as to why the medal "is like it is" is. Would like to get some other thoughts to this though.
