    1. Another superb product from Paul. If you've ever wondered how Rick, Daniel et.al. manage to pull those names out of hats, here's a good place to start learning!!
    2. Allright. That makes 2 that I know of. I will take the liberty of posting one I recently sold.
    3. Hi Joe, I do not remember, was yours full-sized, or Prinzen?
    4. The "Classless" Decoration that started them all. Here's the only one I ever had. Probably ca. 1825-1875. Came in a period case with 2 hooks. Post your stories, facts and speculation on this Grand-Daddy of the EK family!
    5. Hi Joe, my thoughts would be WW2, or possibly even post-war. Is it magnetic core? Notice the indistinct lettering/crown and the way the paint creeps up on the beading??
    6. And the whole thing. Can't remember what the glare is from, I must have photo'd it in an archive folder.
    7. Since we've really expanded this thread to encompass much about the 1870/71 KDM.... here's an example of the document for a steel on combat ribbon. Not sure how this will look, my apologies in advance.
    8. The Prinzen=Gr??e Format iron Crosses are usually the epitome of the jeweler's art and were expensive to buy. I invite all to share their examples. I've had quite a few over the years and some of you own ones I had. So I'll start off with this beauty that lived here once!
    9. Here's another "jobber" packet...... that came with an EK2
    10. Hmmmmmm, no response?? Guess I'll try and wake you up with this Oldenburg Freidrich August Cross, Second Class... an EK2 equivalent. In packet of course...
    11. Hi Chuck, screw-back would be a correct term. the earliest examples of this "big-disc" style in both German & Russian/Soviet seem to have those "mouse-ear" knobs. Beautiful cross and one I have never seen before!!
    12. Thanks Chet, it's frustrating in this office, I have no photo-software to manipulate images with. My "Evil Twin" Rick Research has checked in and assures me the missing piece is indeed an FAM, probably in silber. Should be easy enough to add to the bar.
    13. What surprised me when this was announced was the central design being the K-Bar.... I understand we're talking soldiers here, but there's nothing else the US has ever done with such a blatently violent "image" about it. Cripes, the CIB still has a musket on it!!
    14. Greetings Rendsburg! I would try to stick with the earlier style showed by Rosenberg. They will be faked as well is my guess, but much less so than these "showy" ones. Not an arena one should enter lightly!
    15. Well, I know Joe has an enameled EK2 which I hope he will add to this thread! Did you guys see the 3-Place Frack Bar Detlev Niemann had this morning?! A Prinzen=Gr??e ENAMELED EK2, still tied into the bar. It was a rough bar but holy bat guano, talk about a double-play on rarity! I am most grateful for the "is yours" email I received! I'm in my office so I can't adjust the photo and post it, anybody else have access to their software? Talk about "Jumping for Joy"!
    16. Hi Claudio, nice set! I always found this one interesting that he could afford to simply buy a new bar when all the vet stuff was barred. Chip. I never actually had an extra cross. There was a cross that was mis-mounted on a bar sold by me. After several people looked it over hard in-hand, we determined it might not be correct but the original recipient mounted it that way and intended for it to be worn that way. Thus, it was never removed from the bar and no "extra" cross.
    17. Hi Paul, I see no issue with conservation, preservation and even restorative work as long as things are kept 100% original in everything. Appearance, materials, etc. It should be our duty while we are the caretakers of these pieces to prevent deterioration from occurring
    18. hey Mike...... Look what I just found! #2080 Lot Kappenabzeichen, 8 St?ck, versch. MET., u.a. Kaiserj?ger 1816- 1916, 11. Armee Tirol 1916, K. u. K. Kraftfahrtruppe, Isonzoarmee 1915, an Nadeln, II 4 Opening Price: 70 EURO Absentee bid Telephone bid Terms and conditions <back
    19. Hi Joe, are there holes in the ribbon in last place where a bar might have been mounted???
    20. Oh yeah....... this Labor Medal is "Old King Albert", not WW1 King Friedrich August! These vain Saxons, re-tooling the medals to suit their faces!!!!!!
