    1. Another completely obscure, never before seen/handled award comes to light courtesy of "The Twins".... I always get a special thrill when I see something that I've never had the chance to paw over before floats to the surface!!
    2. Ya have to love it, when 25 Years of collecting X2 and no-one's ever actually seen a mounted Reuss statute ribbon. Obscure, arcane these are the goals!!
    3. Well, that's interesting as DR marked his as "sold" almost instantly after his update. Now it's being offered for $850 less than he "sold" it for? My guess is there's probably several of these cases floating about...... The star is a killer though and I have no problem with its' authenticity. Color, materials, workmanship and maker's marks are all consistent with the quality I would expect from Godet
    4. Excellent bar Mike and a tough one to find mounted! Very nice with the maker label as well!
    5. I think the star is fine. The case does not seem to be consistent with period markings for Godet. BTW, I think the price is as outrageous as the one sold by DR @ 1700. I'm sorry, as beautiful as the TWM is, it's not $900 piece, IMO. But a seller may ask any price he sees fit, it is certainly his right to do so.
    6. Awe Geez, the Evil One is technically correct, but 'twould have been better for some newer guys to try and figure this one out first! Told you he was the bad twin!
    7. Yep, fotographic evidence has surfaced of very, very naughty Bavarian Officer wearing not one, not two but THREE grades of the BMVO on one bar!
    8. Drop-Dead, Stone-Cold Gordon. I cannot remember ever seeing a nicer one!
    9. ...... in thinking about this for the last few minutes..... I have never seen a "foreign" award from a German maker/jeweler that had a case titled in the "foreign" language. The cases either have a German language title, abbreviation or nothing at all. But these TWM cases are titled in Arabic........ which of course then comes the next question: If a Turkish maker, why the "Roman" letters for the maker's name stamp???
    10. An excellent thread. Lots of detail and examples. A relatively unknown maker one popped up on eBay, Schneider Brothers-Wein, beg the "Evil One" and he will share the scan we lifted. Never saw this type before. Despite the fact that the piece itself was trashed, it was obviously yet another high-quality enameled piece. Here's the lid of a BB&Co. Cased TWM. No maker marks to the case itself, but the case is titled in Arabic, so perhaps BB&Co. was a Turkish maker!!!!
    11. Yes, but unfortunately I have now split the group. Apparently the only person in the world who cared was me and I can't afford to hold groups of ribbon bars forever. I even offered the group at less than I paid... no takers. The rest will appear on eBay soon.
    12. Nice add and nice clear logo at the top that is not often seen. I would be surprised if they made every single (outside of Prussia) order and decoration. You're talking about a massive expense in tooling, etc. to make (as an example) W?rttemburg Order of The Crown.... for how many pieces they might sell? Dollars to donuts they bought from other "house jewelers"
    13. as much as I'd like to have this one be real, Tony & Kaiser say no way
    14. oh........... that last one with the Danzig Cross? That's at least the 6th one this YEAR
    15. For me, there's 2 things to consider.. A) It was made like this (for whatever reason) so I wouldn't take it apart B) Because without taking it apart, there's no way of knowing if the ribbons are stitched, or simply folded, I'd hate myself if I did take it apart and find my fat fingers could not only put it in the right order, but then be able to put it back the way it was!! That would be a travesty!
    16. Hi Mike, I think that becomes a case of precedence, with this bar and the placement of the ribbons, there can be no other option. Of course, Bob is "holding out" on us......... there were other clues here!?
    17. I consider myself very lucky. The odd (authentic) pix that shows up usually fetches outrageous sums of money. Especially previously unknown/unpublished private photos. Recently, a postcard popped up on eBay in the US. One postcard. It showed a profile of vonRichtofen putting his hat back on after paying his respects at the funeral of another airman. It sold for in excess of $900. I think the part that is the bummer is that these are all just one page ripped from an album. I'd love to have seen where the rest of it went.
