    1. Yep! Imagine that. 2 perfect specimans of each award displayed in the same case. The third piece that appeared in Germany was a Tunisian Decoration. It was also in a titled case, but only one piece, not duplicates like this. Unfortunately I was outbid on the third piece and the buyer has ignored all entrieties to re-unite the set. There's a substantial amount of other awards out there somewhere for this man. A pipe-dream perhaps, but one I keep alive!
    2. And all together. Here's what I see, tell me what I missed. Horrible detail Horrible finishing Horrible letters in the banner Reverse doesn't look right Engraved number doesn't look right Wrong color enamel yucky looking across the board! So, what do you guys & gals think?
    3. My apologies for the delay. I tried to re-size this guys photos but lost too much.... so here's the big ones. Grab a cup of Joe, this might take a few minutes to download. Thanks!
    4. Of course, if you really acquire a taste for "Austrian"...... think of the possibilities just waiting for you to find & cherish!! Good Hunting!!
    5. Just to show that Herr Admiral was an "equal-opportunity" show-off...... here's his cased Danish War of 1864 set!
    6. The lid....... guess he wanted to make sure that not only everyone would always know whose stuff was whose...... but doubled up his awards so he could show off both sides! Makes me glad I wasn't on his staff!
    7. Careful Doc........ going "Austrian" can be very bad for the pocket book! ;>) The Jubilee Medal(s) of then Cadet, Later Admiral Ferdinand Gebhardt!
    8. Gee, I heard the "story" behind the set..... Lucky Guy! Made that drive worth every hour, didn't it!!
    9. PS: Thanks for the awesome scans...... unfortunately, some of us are forced to pick lesser machines that perform multiple functions and can only dream of the day that we no longer need the copier, fax, etc. It's a really good concept. the "All-In-One's" do perform a multitude of tasks adequately........ scanning, they key word would be "adequate"... certainly not up to the standards (sniff, sniff) of my other half (YES boys & Girls... HE's the Evil One!!!!!!!)
    10. Just so long as they all remember ..... That's MY (as in mine) (as in good luck ever finding another) (as in laughing out loud) (as in happy dreams) White Falcon!!
    11. Huh. Looks like a paperback. Any idea as to illustrations? Color? Drawings?? Thanks!
    12. Well that's interesting..... I just realized one eagle is cross-hatched! Duh! (sound of head pounding against monitor)
    13. Hi Dave, I think I'd leave it the way it is... it has value to you, does it not? Too bad you couldn't have arrived a little earlier and maybe have snapped a photo of the other conversion/documents...
    14. Great pix! Thanks! Does anybody have any photos of a Halhingol being worn by a Mongolian or Soviet fighter?
    15. Hi Tim, didn't mean to "hijack" the thread, but seemed a good place to tuck this "postwar" cross.... On the 3 examples you show, there's such a striking difference in the bodies of the eagles between the first and second two?
    16. Hi Bill, great little cross and nice to see you "filling in the gaps"!!
    17. Greetings Otto, it's really nice to see this history of your family grow & grow! Prosit!
    18. Sorry, having some technical issues with playing with pix here at the office. Will post the reverse as soon as I sort it out.
    19. This piece just seems way too crude to be what it is described as... note especially the left edge of the badge, just outside the wreath...
    20. heh, heh, heh......... I can't wait until insanity sets in completely and I can sell these every week for 2-5K with a Thorazine-cloud obscured pretense of moral objectivity. At a cost of under $300 direct from S&L I'll be rich in no time..... wahoo! "Happy Days are here again......" "The skies are bright and clear again......."
    21. Il n'est rien, mon ami! Le ruban est fan?, n'est-ce pas? Mais je pense que vous avez raison, il n'est pas un bavarois!
