    7. Thank you Tony I looked this thread as well The WW2 German Orders and decorations is like a mine field That is why i gave up on this Period and sold that part of mine collection The Fakers are becoming very good Perhaps they read our Forum and other similar like it and correct their mistakes Cheers
    8. Hi Tony Between 450 and 700 Euro The offer was less then this amount I suspect the dealer knew It did not specify as Original Apart from the l low located year The swastica is very low from the edge of the silver tread, the clum shell disc was typical as the one on the picture above Other thing which bothered me was this fresh rust yellow- red collor and mos of all the Guts feeling
    9. Hi Alex I decided to decline the offer Too risky My research showed that this EK1 has too many Floch features Regards
    10. Thank you Alex I also do not feel very comfortable with this I hope some other members will give their opinion
    11. The seller re=listed this item and removed it from eBay Germany after two days ??!! Still trying or he has few in stock He also sells several fake German Orders - knowingly or unknowingly. Regards
    12. Hi i was offered this 1939 EK1 with screw back Opinion wanted - Original or Fake Regards
    13. Excellent Thank you
    14. Very nice The box is, as you suspect, later version I also suspect that the LOH is not the awarded piece, but privately made later on to be worn or to replace lost or damaged awarded LOH The common practice at that time anything Officer Class and above to be made from 18 Carat Gold There are some pieces made from gilded Silver, however ,in my opinion they were privately made one to replace the lost or damaged Gold ones or to be worn instead of the Gold one to avoid lost or damage Nevertheless if it comes with a strong provenance , then it does not diminish the collector,s and market value Here are pictures of the Officer Cross and the Cross in Gold
    15. Very nice Grouping Thanks The Documents faded, however I can see his name, or i am wrong It looks like he was awarded the Officer of LOH during Second Empire period
    16. That is a very nice Steve I never collected this medal and Order I have only two from Prince/King (Tsar) Ferdinand Period in Gold
    17. I was proud owner of this AWS, However a member from this Club who did buy a significant PLM Grouping owned by a WW1 German U bout Captain found out that The dealer knowingly or not knowingly separated this cross from the Grouping He was very upset. I had the dilemma to keep the cross or to send it to be joined with the Grouping For the sake of the History I decided to go with the second option and send the Cross to be joined with the PLM Grouping I knew that, perhaps. I will never get such EK, however I was happy on the other hand that the History was rectified
    18. I agree 100% I like the AWS Crosses Here is one unusual and rare AWS
    19. Exact date will be impossible to specify, however the period will be 1852 1869 -Second Empire It was wrong by the Dealer to speculate - c.1865, although it is within the right Period as above The maker mark on the ribbon ring is Ouizille Lemoine - the main French Maker of Second Empire LOH There is a French whole mark on the bottom of the cross -"eagle head" for gold -mainly 18 carat Both marks are correct for that period
    20. Nice research !00% tthe Second Empire Cross was not given as a gift That was not the practice and it was against the rules It was a common practice a luxury Cross in Gold or with Diamonds to be given as a gift from people that wanted to show respect to the awarded person During this period most of the officially awarded the Commander Crosses were Silver gilded ones (vermail) Very unlikely that
