    1. i my self dont like the look of this dagger at all.the scabbard and chain look to be reproductions as does the blade. the wood grip is obviously not original to the fittings as seen by the very poor fit. it looks like a spanish reproduction that some one added a different grip to. just my 2 cents.
    2. just my opinion but the blade looks bad because the motto rises to the right. the eichorn logo looks odd to me. the wood grip looks like it doesnt fit well with the lower cross guard fitting or the top fitting. just my opinion.
    3. not exactly on the sword topic. but here is the nambu on request. coolldad
    4. thanks guys, i dident show my nambu, but its minty. i regret selling off a bunch of katana's i had years ago for german blades. so now i'm picking up katana's again.
    5. nice sword lach. nice group too wolfe. i just thought i'd add a couple of mine. not the greatest of pic's. hope you like the japanese corner i have going.
    6. it looks to be a cut down sword blade. common with the patton sword blades.
    7. hello gents, sorry for the delay getting back to this. i have tried my best to take as good a pictures as i can, but they still dont come close to the quality of the other members. so i tried different lightings etc. and even under a magnafing glass. the eagle it self has some kind of coating on it. i can see nice detail under it, but not so much in the pic's. the lightning bolts look much better when looking at it in hand. i'm dissapointed in it being a fake, because in hand it has a nice quality to it. the wreath edges are not overly rounded, and even a little sharp. i would not expect this on a cast. but the fakers are doing a good job on some pieces. this badge belonged to a guy i know for a long time before i got it, so i know its not a recent fake. but any thing i can do to educate my self and others with this badge, as far as what to look for, i'm all for it. so if other pictures will help, i'll take them. i am hesitent to post the observers badge that came with it lol.
    8. my camera is not the best, or it could be me not knowing how to use it right. but i'll give it a good try and see how they come out. this information is a great help. i should post my other badges to be looked at too. i'll get some pic's of this RO soon. thank you again.
    9. West, thank you. i dont have the oppertunity to go to any of the big military shows, so i dont get to look at and handle badges to learn. i picked up this radio operators badge with an assman observers badge. on a trade last year. i need to learn what to look for as far as casting. i'll repost the pictures here so people can see it. thank you in advance for your help. DaveR
    10. you must have better eyes than me. i am not sure what you see that tell you its cast. could you please help me understand what to look for as far as knowing its been cast. thank you. i'm just trying to learn. DaveR
    11. thank you gents. but i was not asking if the badge was assembled by deumer. i'm asking if deumer sold parts to smaller assemblers. like selling the eagle to small shops that used there own hinges etc.
    12. west, thank you for a great reply. i'm told it's a possability that the radio badge i have, are parts sold to a cottage assembler. is there a way to say one way or another if this badge of mine is good or not ?
    13. hello could you please explain "'all parts' Para by W.Deumer." the all parts part. i ask because i have a Deumer radio operators badge that dont fit norms. but its my understanding that companies shared parts. like selling to smaller cottage shops.
    14. i have a set of 42 pic's from the pacific theater. Iwo Jima and tarrowa. these are a so called set that has been together since the end of the war. i dont think any one will pay what i want for the set, so breaking it up is the only option. the most valuable pic of the bunch i think is the flag raising on Iwo. i'm told if i sell the set together, i would likely get the same just selling the iwo pic. i know other people that remove the chin strap from helmets they sell and hangers from daggers. because as i have seen, the item will sell for about the same with or with out chin strap or hanger, and the rest sold seperatly. most sellers are looking to get the most they can for there items, just as buyers are looking to get the best deal possable. but the bottom line is, if you dont like how it's being sold, dont buy it. i know there are many ways to look at things. but what i have I own. i'm not a caretaker, i own it.when, how, and why i sell, will be up to me. the reason most groups are broke off and sold seperatly is because most collectors cant afford the whole thing. thats just a fact of life. be greatfull for what you can find and afford. but if your so passionate about keeping groups together, buy my set of pictures before they get seperated. put up or hush up.
    15. ya what he said. more pic's please. it looks like a real beauty. we would all like to see more.
    16. PK question. i notice in the second ss paratrooper pic you posted, that the guy on the right is holding a jump helmet with a luftwaffe decal. his cap shows an ss skull. did they just use luft marked helmets ? i'm just curious. thanks DaveR
