Italy - Orders, Decorations and Medals
Jacky replied to Hendrik's topic in Southern European & Balkan States
We would like to see a picture of your grade of the order of St Maurice & St Lazarus. Concerning the grade, a neckorder & breaststar are nearly always the grand officer or grand-commander or commander 1st class grade. Kind regards, Jacky -
He held almost every order of every country he had and where he dumped his brothers. the Iron crown of Italy the order of the Union and the order of the Reunion of the lowlands etc etc But what is the medal of the legion d'honneur???

Well the problem might be that catholic officials were sometimes considered de juro nobilities. The pope is to be considered an Emperor Cardinals are considered de juro Princes of the holy roman See Bishops are considered de juro Counts of the holy roman See, as are the male familymembers of the pope (Uncles and cousins, as he, the pope himself has to abstain from sexual activities.) But this man surely isn't really a high clergyman. Thus clergyman can be considered of de juro nobility. Kind regards, Jacky

well, Then they're MBE-atles.... But if I'm correct, most of them declined their award, or did they return it?? Anyway, years later Paul McCartney got his knighthood, anyone has a picture of Sir SCREAM collecting his Knighthood? Kind regards, Jacky

That sounds plausible, but the strange thing appears to be that the merit cross of the alberts order appears to have precedence over the knights cross of this order. And it's the merit cross that maked me wondering about how someone could earn the knights grade before WW1 and then get a merit cross during WW1.... First the higher grade, then the lower grade?? Is this possible or am I totally wrong with classificating the medals???? But the medical link is visible. Wonder who's bar this would be. Kind regards, Jacky

whow, I know that's not really a name, but more a kind of superlative.... I'm wondering what kind of person owned this one! However, unknown as I'm, it appears a little bit strange to have twice the same grade of the Zahringer l?we 1st class, one with swords, the other without swords. But the Roter Adler is a peace time award, 4th class if I'm correct. appears to be somewhat captain grade?? Kind regards, Jacky

Well, legion d'honneur Medaille militaire Wound medal (star) with a number of citations, then a long ribbon with a lot of stars... which must be the Croix d'Guerre TOE (for foreign operations) with a lot of citations. behind this one is also the croix d'guerre for WW2 with only 2 citations.

Belgium Belgian order of Leopold ll
Jacky replied to Laurence Strong's topic in Northern European & Baltic States
Yes indeed, Bronze ones would be harder to come by than the silver or gold ones?? Olivier, do you know any ration between the gold/silver/bronze medals and the higher grades?? This one is also of less pump and circumstance, the leaves on the medal are less detailed and the ball looks quite cubic. Might be because this is the lowest grade, thus for those on the lowest sport, or just a manufacturers plan to work them ou tthis way?? Kind regards, Jacky p.s. I like it that the thread is coming alive again. -

Nice one!!! Is it bronze or gold?? I instantly thought bronze (which is still missing in my collection) But spotted a golden glance at the ball.... Now I'm hesitating... -
very very interesting!! but this is quite weird: oud-kapitein van het N.-I. Leger P. Te Wechel, tot het aannemen van den titel van ,,Officier d?Academie" en van de onderscheidingsteekenen van het IJzeren Kruis 2de klasse The former captain of the dutch-indies army P te Wechel to accept and wear the decorations; Officer d'Academie and Iron Cross 2nd Class..... Two former enemies united on one breast But it's indeed a very interesting thread.

reverse, the scans are not too good, but hey.. not bad too.. They represent just what one wants to see. A nice pre 1951 version of a beautifull order without the distracting clay plastered over the order, like the order of the Crown and the order of Leopold I. (they call it enamel, but I call it clay! I just like metal, plain metal) Kind regards, Jacky -

Here the last pictures of this particular commander in my collection, It's waiting till the money is in my account and then will it fly fly fly to it's new owner. I have bought a commander with swords, thus this one had to go... Can't afford to own multiple of every grade. Kind regards, Jacky Front -

thats a damn nice one!! Even the OBE shimmers and shines towards you!!! Wonderfull *oops, bad word used without the intend to.. Should use my dictionary instead of making it collecting dust....* -
What you call the "order of the eagle" is in fact the "order of the Iron Crown" which later became an Austrian-Hungarian Decoration. Kind regards, Jacky

Sometimes, one sees such a group on the informal trade-websites, like the dutch marktplaats "marketplace" I have seen there a cased MC, wasn't too sure about it because of the blurry pictures. There is now a group of an OBE, with 3 stars and both medals all for WWII I have attached a picture, if you're interested, please pm me and I will give you the link. Kind regards, Jacky -
Hi Paul and others, If my memory serves me correct, you have been awarded the silver cross *shield*?? This also means that you already have the other medals?? Could you show us a picture of your certificates and the shield?? kind regards, Jacky
