      Hi Chris A friend of mine had a mantel that was originally tunic converted, he used to wear it at re-enactments,,, I had one too 1914 dated with equipment hooks and no outer pockets. Eric

      Hello Tony Wish I could help but I cant really. I was told as a kid to avoid felt helmets like the plague only had three in 40yrs off an on. A couple of points is it made from wool and soft? originals have a smell hard to explain. We have to face a fact replicas have been made for 50yrs to my knowledge so today it is difficult and most have original hardware ta boot. Eric

      Nice I was once told these containers had their origins in W1 a friend had one he claimed was Imperial, heavier made with thicker steel but I've never seen them in period photographs. Eric

      Plate and chinstrap are reproduction so is the body as far as I am aware the Imperial Empire never made them with leather trim either. The realised price is fair enough for a replica imo. Eric

      I actually know a gent who wrote a book on The Truce he studied it for years nicely done vid but its documented the Germans initiated the meetings in No Mans Land not us British. I'm not sure if I'm in favour of companies using this sort of thing in adverts or not, Americans call it generally a 'cheap shot' I think. Eric

      I apparently screwed up the ad as well offering free shipping I ended up with about 15 bucks after fees, it hurt but I hope the new owner enjoys it I thought those navy straps were rare? It's one of the earliest dated items I've ever owned, anyway whatever. Cheers

      Mark I've seen it to on leather goods it was a couple of m16 helmet chinstraps I had that were riveted and stitched, guys told me what it mean't a few years ago but typical me I've forgotten. I don't think its in reference to a unit though. Eric
