Chris Been researching your pack issue for dismounted Officers in june '14 Prussia introduced another model Bavaria feb '15 slightly different also had the front equipment hook straps.I guess their main gripe was it sliding around on their backs. During the war they had a choice and could use the regular pack if preferred. Cool man

There goes me retirement money when I'm 80 hoping to sell as original. Famous bluse belonged to Erich Hostfeld who together with feldwebel Hongel captured ten (or was it fifty?) Poilu seven made it back to our lines three or forty three? had to be dispatched on the way for being naughty hey blanks are expensive count themselves lucky. For this heroic deed and cowardice slaughter Hoss was awarded the iron cross, good condition couple of buttons missing first 50K takes it. Eric

Here's some gear I like to consider assault troop the long knife I picked awhile back it was the scarce scabbard really wanted, a quick note on crank knives they had a double 'bayonet spring' in the sheath to firmly retain the weapon a lot of lighter other knives don't have this, I was unsure on the boot cleats until I saw on line period pictures soldiers wearing them. Chris the gun is from the Verdun area. The shovels I've often wondered if some unit order made them cut the regular long so it doesn't protrude over the head line many pictures show this if it didn't have a shorter shaft. The little belt pouch is probably for the guys car keys Eric

I'll take a couple more pics tomorrow use it for all me little goodies people give me a hard time for it but I've no idea what era it is, told it was a medic trench/bunker box? Was full of cool little bottles etc but the dealer sold them off one by one dam it. Just feels W1 but never seen a photo of one. I want to donate it to our chum in Europe with the wagons if first war eventually. Best Eric
