    1. Very nice contributions guys. I have now received the rest of the small photo set of the person in this photo. To my delight it also came with two typewritten pages highlighting his long and very interesting career. A lot of research for me to do. Will post the photos first. Cheers, Larry His very interesting career. No name attached, only his Stammroll number. If anyone wants to have a go at decyphering any of the text I would be very grateful. Cheers, Larry
    2. Thank you very much Morten. A very Merry Xmas to you and all other members of this great forum. Cheers, Larry
    3. Great photos Morten and fitzceraldo. The data base of cap tallies is growing bigger each week. I won a small photo lot at auction of a young man who originally served on the Torpedoboot Leopard. The photos are still in the mail but I thought I would post a preview of one of the photos. I will post scans of the rest when they arrive. Cheers, Larry
    4. Very nice photos Morten and Oldulf. Here is a Aviso Grille portrait. Cheers, Larry Kreuzer Blücher portrait.
    5. Colourisation of a photo I posted in another thread. Cheers, Larry
    6. Latest addition to my collection. An Oberfeldwebel with what looks like Obermechaniker cyphers on his shoulder straps. Medal bar L- R: Hindenberg Cross for Non-combatants, Silesian Eagle II Class Medal, 8 Year Long Service Award, 4 Year Long Service Award. DRL badge under medal bar and finally Silesian Eagle Ist Class Medal at bottom. Cheers, Larry
    7. Hi, I can not find any mention of MN together with the Nachschub or any other tactical symbol. M on its own usually means Munitions or Marine (not applicable in your photo). N usually means Nachrichten (I think also not applicable in your photo) or in some cases Nachschub. I think your photo is early war or earlier. All are wearing branch soutaches on their caps. Wearing of soutaches was banned from mid-1942 and while it was worn contrary to regulations throughout the war it's highly unlikely all the men in the photo would be wearing them at the same time. Cheers, Larry
    8. Hi, The plate can be found here: http://www.niehorster.org/011_germany/symbols/_symbols_43.html Cheers, Larry
    9. My pleasure. Here is the Nachschub/Supply Trains symbol. The men in the photo are rear echelon troops and older men were often used in this role. Cheers, Larry
    10. It looks like the Nachschubtruppen (Supply Column) symbol. The M and N above is unusual. A single M usually denotes Munitions while a single N denotes Nachschub. A possible interpretation could be Munitions Nachschub or Munitions Supply Column. Cheers, Larry
    11. Another project I did on a rainy day.
    12. My pleasure Morten. Hi Bayern, Thank you very much for the clarification. Cheers, Larry
    13. Oberfeldwebel wearing High Seas Fleet Badge and Minesweeper Badge. Cheers, Larry
    14. Hi Morten, Those pre-1940 patches are hard to find in photos. Here is a "T" from a photo I posted a while ago. Cheers, Larry
    15. You have very nice photos in your collection. Thanks for posting them. Cheers, Larry

    18. Hi Morten, Very nice photo. Made even more special by the early Stabsgefreiter chevron worn by seaman standing in middle of photo. Cheers, Larry
