Hi, Post war copies are easy to spot if you know what to look for. Invest in a good reference book (there are a few good ones out there) to increase your knowledge. Genuine badges come with a variety of backings so you can't always tell good from bad by that. Buy from reputable dealers eg Weitze, The Collectors Guild to name a couple. There are a few very nice metal insignia patches for sale at the moment just Google for them. BTW nice patches you have collected. Cheers, Larry

Thanks Morten and PREM. There are a lot more people out there collecting KM trade and specialty patches than when I first started collecting them. There is such a large variety to collect and now it is very hard to find the rarer ones. They are also becoming more expensive as well. Insignia such as the nice Unterwasserhorcher patch photo posted by Morten are hard to find as well. There are a few of the rarer patch photos posted in the "Kriegsmarine Specialty Badges in Wear" thread. By the way, I posted the the Unterwasserhorcher patch upside down. I am concentrating on collecting cloth versions only. I would like to see what others have in their collections. Please post them here. My collection as it stands at the moment: Cheers, Larry

Thanks very much for your very useful information. I must apologise for not giving all the information about the photos. I do this sometimes when I am in a hurry.
