Guys, Couldn't let this be scrapped today, not my bag but it is nicely struck to commemorate German National shooting competition at Hamburg in 1909, it was with a lot of family effects that were being skipped. It's a shame that there is such contempt for history at times. Jock

Fernando, The pictures could be better but I think it looks ok, the metal looks a bit thick on the reverse though but I have nothing to compair to? I think I have one with the cockade which is in one peice and the metal is thinner and no maker mark so not really any help. Good Luck! Jock

Guys, I found this unusual water bucket affair today, I think that the date stamp is 41? It has the military type three hole button as per the zeltbahn. Never seen one before so thought it worth a punt. Jock

Guys, Not much about today, this seemed a nice untouched cross with a more than generous amount of ribbon. Maker I think is S but it could I suppose be 5 or 8 as well, whichever makes sense. Jock

Guys, I have just rescued two folders full of the above old comrades news letters, they are quite interesting and lists various names and small unit orbats etc for various actions and has the vetrans recollections. It appears to be complete from the first news letter until 1990. If anyone has a specific interest in this unit let me know. Jock

Its coming up rather well It needs a bit more paint stripper on the body of the gun and the only part I can't shift is the top cover hinge pin. The wife is not impressed with the bath! Jock

It could be out of a Dreager breathing apperatus as well as I am not seeing any lufwaffe Waffen amt or FL/FN numbers, don't know if that is an issue but have seen similar in these breathing things? At our local building warehouse one of the workers proudly told me only a couple of years back he retired an imperial bottle from the firms gas axe!

Steve, Have you asked on WAF or WRF as a lot of the mainstreem folk there may be able to help. For my ten bob if it were put together post WW2 then it should be post war but as you know there are still lots of parts out there to this day that were war time produced and this (WW1) of course was not verboten and could be recycled if it were an interwar piece, looks a bit shiny but if you were selling these as new you may also refurbish them before selling, who knows? Hope you find out! Jock

Guys, Went out today quite late but bagged a few bargains. This is one and I was able to knock him down due to the grinding of the top of the blade and missing rivet on the leather. Jock

I thought it was the 'social welfare medal' on the reverse it should say 'Medaille fur deutsche Volksplege' and is seperate to Red cross service awards, at least it says so In the Neimans book p292 - p295 ish of volume 3? The second class in that series is a pinback award the medal shown is the last in line and came with and without swords. Swords being attached to the ribbon. I don't have any with swords, I have only seen tham as above.

A quick search of Berg Bau Carbide lamp by pictures throws up a few variations but that is not withstanding my poor spelling? I am sure there were many different types. It is not too far fetched to expect that some RAD units may have been engaged in mining? Jock

John, It is a petrol type blow torch that versions of were issued to vehicles as part of their equipment. I have seen them with acceptance marks and I got one before christmas very similar to the one pictured but whether it was issue or not will remain unknown without any acceptance marks to confirm it. It is not out of the question that it was issued to a vehicle or as a general tool to say Pioneer etc? They are of the period if that is any help. Jock
