    1. Shame about the old boy behind the bride, looks like a spange peeping out!
    2. Social welfare medal looks like a zinc one, party badge, Police eagle and the oakleave tin thing looks more like a civilian type badge due to the pin used but resembles the Jager badge that mountain troops would wear on the side of their hats. Jock
    3. It looks like the remains of a carbide lamp, the sort used in the mines but missing the top half? jock
    4. Paul, Don't know yet. I will try and prize the information out of him, they can be quite secrative these folk. There is a visible serial number, is it possible to marry that to an airframe, probably not I would have thought? Jock
    5. Guys, New toy today, a relic MG 131 Bord MG. Painted a horrible black, I will take it back to metal and see what can be done. Bit of a bend to the coweling and barrel too as you would expect from a pranged plane but not too bad as a wall hanger! Jock
    6. Guys, Its the little things that please me (the wife says that too)! There are many reprints of this small 'heft' but this is a right one! Jock
    7. Do the Germans have 'Cencus' information and would you be able to access it if they do or is everything 'data protected' these days?
    8. Guys, Some more scrap today, I could not let it perish! seems to have a lot of the original colour including a bit of sand farbe! FL number is there too! FL 68369-1 Gerate: 140-515 O (Tp) Manufacturer is 'rhu' which is unknown in the book but luckily they have attached a firm plate below the specs compromising the secret code!? I don't think it is something I can restore, I suppose someone will be able to use it somewhere? I guess it was working until recently as it is in not too bad shape? Jock
    9. Mate, i think you will struggle with that, without a unit or onything else other than Luftwaffe, you could try old phone books or the like but you don't have a town so I think a lost cause unless you can find any more detail? Jock
    10. These small Dorfs tend to still be small, if I get time I will nip across and see if they have a memorial stone and add the picture. They tend as well to be the focal point of surrounding farm workers in the area so those families fallen are often listed too. jock
    11. yes it does, I'm about half way through it, I will do the rest later on in the week as you know it is a pain cropping resizing etc. Jock
    12. As statet, please see attached some pics from an A4 size book made from a war artists sketch book, its about half of them, I will add the rest in the week, I have others that have loose A4 prints but I ca't find them sorry! jock
    13. Have had a look at the national archive and downloaded her medal card seems May only had the pair! 3271.pdf
    14. IG, thanks for that I will have a google. Cheers
    15. Guys, Not that Hess but a KM lads kit. Nice BAK marking, condition poor but ok if you don't have any! Two pairs of trousers as well, one pair well worn and another pair vandalised by some clown, quite litterally for a change. Should I 'de-clownify' them or should I just leave them as they are as part of social history? Jock
    16. I went through the headings and did not find any relating to sporks in there? Cheers jock
    17. Guys, Went out really late today with money in my pocket so fully expected to find nothing. Pleasantly surprised I was. Not fancy but nice quality prints. Jock
    18. Thanks for the info, I presume these workers were only on the home front yet still entitled to the medals. Every day is a school day! Cheers jock
    19. Guys, Just got this pair. Named to: 8685 WKR. M.G.Hill. Q.M.A.A.C. These were in the scrap silver again! Any idea what unit and rank that is? Jock
    20. Looks ok to me? These things were mass produced and not always perfect. Hinge and pin seam ok leaving a blob on the reverse and a small bit off the edge of the blank when struck, not the end of the world or the war at that time? Production flaws are common. I think a good copy of the black wound badge is not much cheaper than an original? There is a very good copy with a very narrow edge doing the rounds, probably as thin as yours at the narrowest part of the flaw, thats a cheeky one to watch for. What I like is the brass (tombak) peeping through on the pin. Jock
    21. It is not just corrupt sellers, I have been playing a bit with ebay last couple of months (selling) and have found bid retractions anoying, I guess they use this to find out what the opposition is prepared to pay. So just for fun cancel their bids and stick them on your banned bidder list. I had a dogey deal where at the last minute the postal address and name changed, I only noticed when I was about to post to the correct original address. If I posted to the new address I would not have had the seller protection and likely the person would have received the item and claimed the cash back which I understand is almost automatic. Off line offers, I received a whole host of them for a GSM bars NI & Kuwait, some of them after the auction was ended but I suppose no different to these fora in that regard. It is all fun and games!
    22. I will have a poke around the cellar see what I can find, I know what you mean about pictures or scanning but it is such a pain in the arse to do, at least on my machine.
