    1. Guys, These were found yesterday at a flohmarkt here in Germany. Thought that there even existed a full volume dedicated to what we would call 'Opfor' these days, back then was quite cool? It even has a disclaimer stating that any similarity to any actual persons is purely co-incidental. LOL! Jock
    2. Guys, I have gone German colonial as this predates WW1? If I am wrong please correct as required. Yet again rescued from the paper skip! It has a few interesting shots of various players that are well decorated by the looks of them. Not my thing though so here for you Imperial buffs. The other two are normal looking books of the period although one is in a strange language. cheers jock
    3. I think you nailed it there, carmine is what for a colour and god help the colour blind! If that is ruled out then I would say MP rather than artillery, it looks too orange like for arty, then you have the Vets and the Nebel too rule out too but the versions of some of them look like what I have been told is carmine, what if the taylor was colour blind, perhaps I am too? Nice hat though regardless as at least it is right. Jock
    4. Could it be the other red for Genaral staff Officers? Is that an unusal name for a German, maybe you could find him? What do the others say on the other fora? Best Regards Jock
    5. Guys, I just found this and it kind of made me laugh, so much stamping and control on the reverse, no wonder they lost! I would like to see the 'button police' inspectors auswies. It is three shots of the same button, its a bit tricky to capture on camera. Jock
    6. This is the limit of my skills, it is back to steel and I think a bit of the original finish. It is shiny as I have covered it in rifle oil at the moment as I have washed off the paint stripper with very warm water. jock
    7. Doc, I noted your age and did think it is 'young boys (and girls) work' these days with all that body armour etc. It is not an area I know anything about but I would think it will be hard to find the bits or have you a plan? I hope it you manage it, I'm just about to stick the scabbard from the bayonet I found into the paint stripper, I hope I find some paint under the new paint! Jock :
    8. Guys, This is not my bag but I could not help but see the badge on front of the album. It is full of pictures and caricatures, I suppose reviewing a career in a light hearted way? I thought that maybe some-one on here may have an interest in it, free to a good home! Drop me line if you want it, I think I can cope with the postage unless its anywhere exotic. Jock
    9. I always remember these death pennies from the 80's, I never got a set as they were quite common then (and I was distracted by the dark side). I even remember there were some in the cemetery on military headstones at the top of Mansfield Road in Nottingham (top end of where the Goose Fair is). I noticed since then they have gone presumably stolen for scrap? Good luck with your research I hope you can narrow it down! Jock
    10. Hello, I see it is your first post so welcome. My eyes are not as good as they once were, the photo on my machine is a bit hard to make out. I see from your profile picture you are still leading a busy lifestyle Doc? Maybe you can do some better shots if time permits at some point. If your engaged in an 'agressive camping trip', stay safe! Jock
    11. No joy with the memorial, sorry, His mate on the right also has the same badge within the folds of his uniform. Jock
    12. Gordon, Thanks for the heads up.
    13. Guys, I will see what is under it and probably leave it at steel as I don't have access to anywhere that I can heat it so hot. Cheers Jock
    14. Guys, From Sunday again, as stated above, its a bit dry but not too bad. Jock
    15. Guys, Got this tonight, the sawback appears to have been removed at some point, it is dated 18 and the frog is the best part I think? I will try and strip back the scabbard while my hand is still in having done the MG 131 recently, I also have some of the hammerite left, can't do any worse than it looks now. Jock
    16. Gordon, Is that what the little cut out part is for? Cheers Jock
    17. I can't make it out as it is quite dark, I will try later to play with the pictures. Best Regards Jock
    18. turtle, thanks for that, you have good eyes! I only seen the injections below it and assumed something similar. I am glad she got some recognition for her services. Thanks again.
    19. Guys, Shame it was empty! A bargain at €2, I didn't even haggle! Jock
    20. Guys, Also yesterday. I will do a better picture of obverse later. Shame about the box lid! Jock
    21. Guys, Some more scrap iron yesterday, appears to be maker ' Fr '. Jock
    22. Guys, Had a good day yesterday, just working my way through it. Some portraits etc. Jock
    23. Guys, I can't spell as most of you have worked out so I have stuck with the abreviation. It has had a small ding to the L/H arm as you look. Seems to be ok I think and it was only a tenner so I thought why not? Jock
