R.A.D. RAD Trench Heater
Jock Auld replied to GODISHIGH's topic in Germany: Third Reich: Uniforms, Headwear, Insignia & Equipment
It looks like the remains of a carbide lamp, the sort used in the mines but missing the top half? jock -
Paul, Don't know yet. I will try and prize the information out of him, they can be quite secrative these folk. There is a visible serial number, is it possible to marry that to an airframe, probably not I would have thought? Jock

Guys, New toy today, a relic MG 131 Bord MG. Painted a horrible black, I will take it back to metal and see what can be done. Bit of a bend to the coweling and barrel too as you would expect from a pranged plane but not too bad as a wall hanger! Jock

Guys, Some more scrap today, I could not let it perish! seems to have a lot of the original colour including a bit of sand farbe! FL number is there too! FL 68369-1 Gerate: 140-515 O (Tp) Manufacturer is 'rhu' which is unknown in the book but luckily they have attached a firm plate below the specs compromising the secret code!? I don't think it is something I can restore, I suppose someone will be able to use it somewhere? I guess it was working until recently as it is in not too bad shape? Jock

Guys, Not that Hess but a KM lads kit. Nice BAK marking, condition poor but ok if you don't have any! Two pairs of trousers as well, one pair well worn and another pair vandalised by some clown, quite litterally for a change. Should I 'de-clownify' them or should I just leave them as they are as part of social history? Jock

Thanks for the info, I presume these workers were only on the home front yet still entitled to the medals. Every day is a school day! Cheers jock

Heer Wound Badge
Jock Auld replied to paul kennedy's topic in Germany: Third Reich: Wehrmacht Medals, Decorations & Awards
Looks ok to me? These things were mass produced and not always perfect. Hinge and pin seam ok leaving a blob on the reverse and a small bit off the edge of the blank when struck, not the end of the world or the war at that time? Production flaws are common. I think a good copy of the black wound badge is not much cheaper than an original? There is a very good copy with a very narrow edge doing the rounds, probably as thin as yours at the narrowest part of the flaw, thats a cheeky one to watch for. What I like is the brass (tombak) peeping through on the pin. Jock -
It is not just corrupt sellers, I have been playing a bit with ebay last couple of months (selling) and have found bid retractions anoying, I guess they use this to find out what the opposition is prepared to pay. So just for fun cancel their bids and stick them on your banned bidder list. I had a dogey deal where at the last minute the postal address and name changed, I only noticed when I was about to post to the correct original address. If I posted to the new address I would not have had the seller protection and likely the person would have received the item and claimed the cash back which I understand is almost automatic. Off line offers, I received a whole host of them for a GSM bars NI & Kuwait, some of them after the auction was ended but I suppose no different to these fora in that regard. It is all fun and games!
