    1. Eric Looking forward to seeing your post. Regards, Gordon
    2. linden16, As Megan has suggested, ebay.de is your best source for cased BRD awards. Postage from Germany, as i most country's these days, is expensive though. ebay.com also has some cased awards but infrequently. Almost all of the BRD articles I collect these days come from Germany. Another option is the Estand on the Wehrmact Awards Forum (WAF). the estand is the sale section on the WAF. Here is a link to a high end cased DDR award that is for sale on the Estand right now. This is just to give you an idea of the type of award that shows up there. http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/showthread.php?t=777853 Regards, Gordon
    3. koloado, Thanks. I was aware of the marks on the eagle. The marks on the back of the actual medal was what I was referring to. They also appear to be K for the maker and the other mark for the silver content. Regards, Gordon
    4. utopis, No this is not my piece. I was trying to buy it and asked my question because I was unsure as to where the markings should be on the medal. I had read that the two markings on these pieces were supposed to be on the base of the eagle as shown in one picture below. What I was trying to do with the vendor was find out what the marks were on the back of the medal on the two projections at the top. Also shown in a picture below. I was unable to get good pictures of the markings on the back of the medal before the vendor sold it to someone else. Do you know what the markings on the back of the medal are? Regards, Gordon
    5. Jock, Very well spent!!!! Regards, Gordon
    6. A small badge issued to members of the FDJ. The numbers at the bottom of the badge stand for the following; Stufe I Für 8.Schuljahr (1967-78) Stufe II Für 9.Schuljahr Stufe III Für 10.Schuljahr Hans Beimler was a German communist, member of the German Communist Party and a deputy in the Reichstag . Hans Beimler fought in the Spanish civil war as political Kommisar (Political Kommisar of all German battalions in the SPANISH CIVIL WAR) of the " Thälmann - Bataillon" the XI. International brigade. He was outside Madrid in 1936.) There are a number of badges awarded in the FDJ bearing Hans Beimler's name The picture is from Lars Krommeriks site and shows a blank document as well. I'll post pictures of the badge from my collection tomorrow. It is too dark to take pictures now. Regards, Gordon
    7. Jock, Feuerwehr belt and buckle for the Province of Hanover as worn before 1936. Here is another one like yours.
    8. What do you think of this one? And what makes you say the one I posted originally was a fake? I understand that originals should be marked with the silver content and the statement mark. Where should these two marks be located on the back of the award? Regards, Gordon
    9. Jock, Interesting stuff. Thanks for posting these docs. Regards, Gordon
    10. djn, How long will you be in Budapest? There is a militaria show on the first Saturday of each month that would be worth visiting. The Coin and Stamp club meets on a Tuesday once a month and I always found it interesting to visit plus numerous markets that have militaria dealers. I don't remember which Tuesday but I always came home with something. The militaria dealers Markgraf mentioned should be able to direct you to the places that I mentioned. Regards, Gordon
    11. Matt, So you only have to take part in a foreign mission regardless for length of time? As a rule, these types of awards specify the awardee has spent a certain number of months with the mission, This is usually done to prevent someone, usually senior officers, from flying in one day and out the next to qualify for the medal. Regards, Gordon
    12. Matt, Thanks for posting this non portable award. Interesting that there is a ribbon to wearing indicating the recipient has this award. I don't know that I've ever seen that done before. Do you know what the requirements are for giving the award? Regards, Gordon
    13. Humberto, Sorry for taking so long to respond to your post. You are correct that both the gold and silver ehrennadel came in two versions. Enameled versions issued in 1965-1967 and without enamel after these dates. Regards, Gordon
    14. Jock, One of my favourite topics. Here is a picture of some other tallies that I took of the net plus some of my own that are on caps. I like this picture because it shows an early script tally with the later Latin characters. Regards, Gordon
    15. Felfjaeger 1 Very interesting pictures. Thanks for posting them. Regards, Gordon
    16. Elmer, Good comment. Always read the fine print! Regards, Gordon

    21. Jock, Interesting hat. Very early issue of the pipped visor hats as you mentioned. Leather visor is unusual and I have not seen this maker before. Also, rare to see a smooth cap band. I have a couple with the smooth cap band rather then the ribbed one. Al in all, a very interesting cap. Regards, Gordon
    22. bab, Really interesting thread. A rare find indeed. Regards, Gordon
    23. Jock, I'll look. I have a lot of doubles, triples etc. Regards, Gordon
    24. Jock, Great photos. Best picture I have seen so far of a pilot wearing very early flight gear. Regards, Gordon
    25. The other award given out by the League was the Medaille für Verdienste um die Freudenschaft der Völker. This award came in one class only. It was made of bronze and was gold coloured. Bartel #3682 - awarded from 1974 to 1989. The wording on the back of both the Ehrennadel and the Medaille was the same. The pictures of the back of these wards comes from the DHM in Berlin.
