    1. As Wild Card notes it is the House Order of the Grand Duchy or Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach and is awarded in five classes. Visit Dave Danner's excellent site for more information on the order and those of the other German States. http://home.att.net/~david.danner/militaria/saxeweimar.htm
    2. Actually it appears to be a half height medal bar that I understand was favored by Wurttemburgers...
    3. A simple 6 place ribbon bar but I cannot identify the ribbons in the 4th and 5th positions.
    4. There must be something to this genetics business! Both you and your brother seem to have a remarkable talent for finding exceptional medal bars!
    5. Rich, check with Gailen David. He has a study of those inscription templates that has spanned some twelve years and has some interesting findings that the bad guys would love to know about.
    6. Heiko, I wish you a speedy recovery. I had no idea medal and ribbon bar collecting was a full contact sport in Germany!
    7. Excellent pictures! Thanks!
    8. ...perhaps it was done to benefit later collectors!
    9. Nice cuff links and letter opener although the condor on the cufflinks looks more like a hummingbird.
    10. ...and you didn't go anywhere near St. Tammy! and I like the way you just slid right by the sigrunen on the LS ribbon while talking about NSDAP bars.
    11. Joe, I think the word you might be looking for is 'crotchety.' No cavalryman worth his oats would have a face that looked anything other than it was made of old saddle leather.
    12. That is a spectacular effort. A full size replication would be overwhelming.
    13. Only recently have I begun to dabble with postcards and photos, mainly to get a better look at ribbon bars and medal bars.
    14. Thanks, Coastie, I never knew about the bars.
