    1. Getlemen, here is research to one of my favourite pieces in my collection, an OPW 1st class Nr. 177.608 to a Commander of a communications unit (maybe someone can tell me the exact name?) the 127th Seperate Telegraph-???-Company.(Signal-Company?) Comrade Petr Grigorievich Dudnik, born 1920, Ukrainian, born in Bobrov, Lebedinsky Region, Sumy Oblast, participated in the Civil War and from December 1941 to the end of the war in the Great Patriotic War in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Belorussian Front. His awards are: OGPW 1st class Nr. 177.608 awarded 04.04.1945 Order of the Red Star Nr. 685.974 awarded 12.07.1944 Order of the Red Star Nr. 309.268 awarded 11.10.1943 Medal for Military Merit Nr. 491.839 awarded 16.08.1943 Order of the Red Star Nr. 3.259.880 awarded 05.11.1954 Medal for Military Merit awarded 15.11.1950 Medal for the Defense of Moscow Medal for the Capture of Koenigsberg Medal for Victory over Germany Maybe someone is so nice to give an overview of the citation and fill the gaps... Award Record Card Obverse:
    2. VERY nice, Doc. Love that Red Star! You have seen it a few days ago, but here is my ORB for an Officer of the Medical Personal, awarded on 03. April 1944 to Valentin Akselevich Filenius, Lieutenant-Colonel of Medical Service and Commander of Evacuation Hospital 325 in Irkutsk during the war. http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=10295 Here is some info to the Unit, your Comrade Baturin served in:
    3. Excellent, Christian. Thats a nice a quite typical citation for an Order of Glory. The 161st Rifle Divisions final title to the end of the war was "161st Rifle Stanislav Order of the Red Banner, Order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky Division" They later took part in the Lvov-Sandomir operation in July 1944 with the 1st Guards Army. And, you are hooked now? Any more numbered soviet awards, you are going to research? best, Gerd
    4. I agree. Great shots, OoV. Finally we can take a closer (and clear) look on your orders
    5. Doc, there is no need to do that you should reconsider. We all have a bad day sometimes. I hope, you?ll stay with us and continue to contribute with posts. best, Gerd
    6. Auke, exactly thats, how it works. And yes, he wants something for his service of course. If you want details, send me or anyone of the others, who replied here, a pm and you?ll get a contact. Gerd
    7. Oh, i wish it was a group, but i "only" have the Red Banner. But his Lenin is maybe somewhere out there. I was first a little disappointed, that its a Long-Service award with this number, but when i saw, it was to a Colonel of the Medical Service, i was glad. Especially as it came with his service history including a photo. Gerd
    8. Oh, yes, my birthday Can i start to write my wish-list?
    9. Doc, do you mean awards like this one?: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=10295
    10. What? Absolutely no need to be sorry, Ed. It must be allowed to question the originality of a piece. In the end they are just opinions, you can agree with or not. I would not like it, when i post a questionable piece on the forum and noone would tell me for the fear to offend the seller or anyone else. I for one would definately recommend to send the screwback-BOH to PMD, if it were mine. Just my two Eurocents... Gerd
    11. Hi Auke, i agree with Dave, it was probably awarded around May 1945. There is a good chance, that this is not a Long-Service award, so i also recommend to get it researched. all the best, Gerd
    12. Lovely Ribbonbar, Peter Santa never gives me Militaria for Christmas all the best, Gerd
    13. Thank you, Andreas. So the numberrange obviously starts even earlier than i thought. best, Gerd
    14. Doc, as far as i can see, the translation is correct. This kind of research comes from the Russian MoD and is just a confirmation, that the Order was awarded and delivered to the awardee and a short version of the citation. The information on these is not so extensive like on the usual copies of the archive-documents, we get from our researcher. I have also one or two orders with this kind of research and its better than not researched at all. Gerd
    15. Thats very interesting. Great info, Dave. So my Red Star Nr. 3703545 is the earliest Serialnumber observed for Afghanistan? Btw, i have pretty much expected, that it is one of the 50 years Revolution-Anniversary Red Stars. Someone once gave me a serialnumber-range for Red Stars for Afghanistan, which was 3 730 *** to 3 820 *** Gerd
    16. You know, i agree completely, Ed. Just out of couriousity, as this won?t leave me anytime soon, what would a Red Star be worth with such a Research? I myself would pay probably 100-120 Dollar, but would i get one for this price?
    17. Yes, exactly. He was lucky more than 1200 times in one year, that means about 3-4 mines per day. Like Rick says "Nerves of steel and fortune?s smile on him".
    18. Yes indeed one, i could save from Ed?s paws After all the soviet awards for Afhganistan he posted, i already was conviced, there won?t be much to come for us other collectors. I look forward to Vavenko?s citation.
