Soviet 1970 Lenin Jubilee Medals
Gerd Becker replied to a topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
Hi Danny and welcome Gerd -
I guess, all of them are not real. The one, Stogieman posted the closeup from, had a chance, but i think, the spange is the easter-chick spange, if i am not mistaken and the precendence on that bar is wrong, but still not impossible. So i am splitted on that one. Ok, lets start from the beginning: First one has that ugly Volkspflege- fake-device on it, so its definately fake. Second one has four(!!!) campaign-medals(What is Nr. 5?), which was not allowed (2 were allowed) and the SS-device allways makes me suspicous. FAke! Third one, 10 year NSDAP missing, weird combination, WMC with X and WMC-Medal? Precendence is wrong, oh, yes, i forgot the double devices on the last one and this one has them too, isn?t that strange? Fake! Forth one has again three campaign Medals, which is highly unlikely... Fake. Fifth one: See above Sixth one: You don?t want me to start, right?

Soviet Red October Medal
Gerd Becker replied to a topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
Yes, i already thought so, Bryan Just to avoid misunderstandings. The one on his website is sold, but you should ask him though, as he has quite often documented ones. best, Gerd -
Be very careful with Russian and Soviet badges, Rick. I also don?t know much about them, but i have to agree with Kim about the enamel and the screwplate. Such rare badges i would only buy from a reputable source and never from ebay, except, i was 100% sure. There are aweful lot of fakes of these early badges out there, like it seems. best, Gerd

Soviet Red October Medal
Gerd Becker replied to a topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
Nice one, Bryan. They are very attractive, aren?t they? Btw, i highly doubt, Alexei would split an award book from the order. He didn?t offer you the same OOR with and without book, did he? Gerd -
Soviet Red October Medal
Gerd Becker replied to a topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
LOL Of course i know, what you mean, just could not resist And i agree 100%. My OOR in that group means much more to me than the single undocumented one, which is in better condition. I was very lucky to get one in a group, as you mostly see them either undocumented or single with orders book. Gerd -

Soviet Red October Medal
Gerd Becker replied to a topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
I agree with Rick and Ed. If you want one, try to get one at least with orders book. Like both noted, they are not much more expensive than undocumented ones, but you will be happy in the future, that you got a documented one. Gerd -
Soviet Soviet & Eastern Block Quiz
Gerd Becker replied to Christophe's topic in USSR: Soviet: Other Militaria
That should be Capture of Budapest Capture of Vienna As i know, Andreas knew this for sure, i will let him ask the next question. -
Thanks, Kevin. You have some very nice and rare DDR-medals. Thats a good photo, which shows the remarkable difference in quality very good. Ed, i have never seen a good photo of the Armed-Struggle-participants-Medal. Thanks everyone for sharing their treasures. Gerd

Kevin, this is the first time, that i see numbered DDR-Medals. They seem to be rare, to say at least. Is it possible to trace the owner with that number? What are the numbers, I can?t read them completely? And i can confirm the statement, the earlier, the better the quality. The threw out zillions of these medals, after the wall was gone already and you could buy the most of them on German ebay. Its really hard to find some earlier issues nowadays, and if, they often go for a crazy prices. Very nice examples in this thread Gerd

Yes, i would like to see some good photos as well. Someone has one of these? Eric, nice avatar Gerd
