    1. Dankwald actually shows up if you google him. There can't be two in Eisenach.

    3. So this is an example of a regimental "bravery diploma" like Adolf got?
    4. By the way, I bought mine from an ebay seller called "Ba-re" in Berlin. Last time I shall do that.
    5. It glows and it was done on a photo quality scanner and pasted on to an older cardboard backing. I suspect the backing originally had another less exciting picture on it. I might never have known except when it arrived the center of the picture underneath was loose.

    16. Great find. Ambrose has a section of his book where he notes that soldiers' families were usually told that they 'died instantly" and "did not suffer". The sniper is unusual. Does the First Division have a website?
    17. whoops size too big for the backs. I shall do a separate thread (pardon the pun).
    18. I got some in a street market earlier in June. They have been attacked by moths a bit though. What are they anyway, Italian, Pakistani- made souviners or only for mess dress uniforms?
    19. Great!! I love this sort of research. History is great.
    20. Ta Glenn: Any idea on how much these sell for? Can you flesh out any unit histories ? Thanks,
