Richard, IMO the badge you have posted is a Mayer. The Zimmermann should have four segmented arms to the swastika. If the reverse hardware is not pictured in Gordon's book then i can only presume that it is a Mayer variant. Regards,Martin.
Despite the flaws i like this one also. The "flattened" look to the "R" on the maker mark is consistent with other period Minesweepers i have seen by Souval. Regards,Martin.
Hi Eric, after looking at this one i am inclined to agree with Gordon about the hinge. However,i am now wondering if it could be a good badge with a replaced hinge? Regards,Martin.
Aha,so your the one that got that badge.Very nice Gordon, and very rare. The few examples i have seen of this badge have the "4" stamped on the pin. This is the first unmarked example i have seen and it is in very fine condition too. Congratulations,Martin.
The end of a long search is over for what i consider one of the rarer of the HSK badges,BH Mayer in zinc. This was only the second one i had seen and fortunately for me the owner was willing to part with it. Regards,Martin.
John, here is an example i have of the dish back.It is hard to tell from the scans but the highlights are polished.A very nice looking badge in hand.I think it is the only zinc badge that i have by Schwerin that i prefer over it's tombak predecessor. It seems from examples i have seen that the zinc BB by Schwerin held its finish very well. Regards,Martin.
Well,it has been a long time coming but i finally received my tombak Schwerin.A very nice but slightly worn original with about 50-60% of it's original guilding. It fills a big hole in my HSK collection. Now i just have to find the elusive tombak and zinc examples by BH Mayer. Regards,Martin.
Thanks Laurence and Paul, here is one of my favorites of a Marineartillerie NCO.The two braided Chevrons and pip are for Oberstagsgefreiter i think Great thread BTW. Regards,Martin.
The decal. The rivets appear to have been replaced,or maybe a re-issue.Sorry but helmets are not my strong point but i've always wanted a KM to go with my badge collection. Cheers,Martin.
This one just arrived from Germany.A very fine looking Foerster & Barth badge of single piece constrution. My old scanner does not do the badge justice. It is very nice in hand and retains most of it's original finish. Regards,Martin.
