Dear Tim , I respect your knowledge and information , but in my opinion that order which was sold was totally new made . The only original part of that order is it's ribbon . 1 - The center of the order (inside of the red enamel) , must be gold inlaid , that one was not. 2 - The enamel is not cold enamel on the order.. (As you mentioned ...) 3 - The Cresent and the star on the up of the order is , smaller and less detailed then the Original Order's ones... 4 - Just till 3 - 4 years , we start to see those fake Osmanie orders in Istanbul , even I have one in my shop .. I bealive , it is a Gold Liyakat Medal awarded for the General Manera. Date 1908 is ok , altough it was founded in 1890 (1308) by Sultan Abdulhamid (Ruled the Empire between 1876 to 1909) , it was awarded till the end of Ottoman Empire. All the Best , Avsar

Dear Friends , I feel my self to add some correct information on this old topic , but it is very important , there is a big mistake here , the one above which was mentioned like 3th class Shevkat order , is not an 3th Class Shevkat order , it is an 1 st Class order. Both the pictures , I mean the one with diamonds is a Breast Star of the 1 st Class Shevkat order and the one , look like a only star on the neck ribbon is a 1st Class Order of Shevkat , they even can be set with the Breast Star. Shevkat Orders Total 3 Classes ; 1st Class - ( 2 Pieces Set ) - The Star only made of Solid Gold + The Breast Star , Made of Gold , Silver , Dimonds and Rubbies. ( Saffired Versions also seen) , ( Only diamonds without Rubbies also seen) ( ONLY the 1 st Class Shevkats have this Naked Star (They can come with sash ort neck ribbon , doesnt matter they are 1st Class + plus Breast Star ) 2nd Class - ( 1 piece , not set ) - Made of Gold - Silver - Diamonds - Rubbies. 3th Class - ( 1 piece , not set ) - Made of Gold - Silver - Enameled Leafs All the Best Avsar Ibar

Below from my stock , I wish to share another Shevkat Order with you , it is a very important piece , because this is the actual order which was photographed on the Mr.Metin Erureten 's Ottoman Orders and Medals book page 289. " 3th Class Shevkat Order " That photo on the book belong to this order.

By the way , when I said there must not be a pin on the 1 st Class Shevkat's , I mean it musn't be on the order , of course the 1 st class Shevkat Breast Stars have pin on the back. Below , I am pasting a photo of an 1 st Class Shevkat Order , perfect Ottoman Made - to compare. Norok , Avsar IBAR

Hi , nice piece but it is certainly NOT made in Ottoman Empire boundaries. I mean it is not made by Ottoman Mint. Normally , you can not see this pin on the back of 1st Class Shevkat Orders , the most beautiful examples of 1st Class Shevkat orders , have gold wreath - chaplet on the back. The other's reverse is flat. If you pay attention on the Tughra , you can see again a wrong - foreign made Tughra. Usually , the Tughra printed on flat surface in 1st Class Ottoman Shefkats , this one printed on convex surface. 1st Class Shevkats sometimes seen with Neck Ribbon also , this has a beautiful Sash , it is a nice addition. Generally , in my opinion I can say that it is a nice foreign made example. But I prefer Ottoman Mint Made Shevkats . If we woud be speaking about Medjidie Orders , I can say to you that Foreign made Medjidies such as Rothe , Halley , La Foyalle etc.. are very very beautiful and much more rare and expencive then Ottoman Made ones.
