    1. Rick, One very important thing I learned at the SOS is that I feel like the poor kid in this hobby because I am!!! If only I had your credit card with me.
    2. I do not know why the award date is so late but this is the first one this late I have ever noticed. Looks like there were quite a few given out that year by the number in lower left unless that is a running count from '36 on. Teach me! Also, an excellent family grouping! Nice to see it has a good home instead of a market value.
    3. I bought these two at the SOS. I have wanted one of these mini ribbon bar stick pins for a while now. Finally found one.
    4. You bet! I don't think they could get any more on it if they tried. 6083. A/SIS.M.L.STEPHEN CRAIGS COURT H. NSG DIV. No 1DST.S.J.A.B.1927 Jeff read this like a book. It was great to meet him and get his opinion.
    5. I realize that these are not the most sought after pieces but when I saw this I knew I was going to buy it. Two days it sat there waiting for me. I see this like a work of art. Bar is marked Spink & Son Ltd. The extra 5 year service bars are a nice touch. This is one piece I own because I just like to look at it. Thanks, Chet
    6. I recently added this photo to my collection. The more I look at it the more I think I have seen it before.
    7. Here are the son's medals. Is it safe to assume that along with the ribbon the Can. Volunteer Service Medal is missing the maple leaf clasp? There was no paper work on the son. Thanks for looking. I know this is not a very sexy group but I am just learning and still taking small steps.
    8. The group included his Discharge Certificate, a Veteran's Allowance form from 1936 and this document for the War Service Badge. Why would a 68 year old man get this badge? Is this one of those items that just needed to be applied for by a veteran? Are these easy to find?
    9. I picked these up last week at a local show. Nothing too exciting but they are nice for me. The father was 862754 PTE. J. STEVENS CAN. INF. WKS. COY. He was 39 when he enlisted in 1916. His Discharge Certificate states that he was in England and France.
    10. Here's mine. Ribbon #2. I have been looking for a while now thinking one has to turn up on German Ebay or a dealer site some where. I have found one ribbon chart that shows the ribbon but no medal. This is one restoration that may take a while.
    11. Thanks Mark, good to see another familiar name here. I looked carefully and this star is the bronze version.
    12. Rick, Believe it or not these are 9mm! They are so tiny and so perfect I just had to buy them. @ Greg, You do really have to watch Gerd. I already have a couple of Russian pieces
    13. Paul, The Austrians are superb! I picked up the three place first then the little crows.
    14. Very nice RAO. These cases are not easy to find. I do not think I have seen an empty one for sale.
    15. A few new little Imperial pieces for the collection. This is all Gerds fault! He made me love these things A few others here are guilty of such things but they will remain nameless for now. Enjoy!
    16. Thanks again guys. I will get this framed to protect it again. I bought it in a big Ziploc bag. A navy guy is fine with me. This is my second US group then. The first is the most cherished militaria I own - it was my Grandfathers!
    17. So this is one guy? Too bad that the person that did this did not write a name on it. There are layout lines on the back of the card board and I wish an extra 10 seconds would have been taken to add "Uncle Joe Smith" to give it a little more history. This will make a nice wall hanger for when I finally get my own space. Thank you all for the help and comments. Chet
    18. There used to be one on the 9 yr LS also. I will never know which one so I massaged the ribbon and the holes are not really noticable now. I guess he wanted to save as much as he could from his pre '34 bar. Thanks!
    19. While driving past a local antique shop on my way to lunch the other day I suddenly got the feeling I should stop in and take a look around. I have been there before and never found a thing. I went in and this was in the second case inside the front door. I find it interesting for four reasons. First, it is always nice to find a BMVK2X on a bar locally. Second is the lack of an EK2. Third is the red backing which I have rarely found on Bavarian bars. And finally the unofficial clasp for the Kyffhauser medal which is spelled differently than in Detlevs book. A neat little bar. Too bad the moths got to it before I did.
    20. Hello, I bought this little display last week in a local antique shop. It looks to have been taped into the back of a picture frame at one time and I plan to put it back into one for display. I have a couple of questions that I hope someone could answer. First, is it possible that these were to one man? I don't remember having ever come across a group with three campaign medals in it. There is a silver star on the European/Africa and three bronze on the Pacific - that seems like a lot of action and no good conduct, Purple Heart or valor pieces. Second, can you tell me what the two ribbons on the bottom center are for as well as the red, white and blue one over the National Defence medal is. I looked at a couple of web pages but could not find these. Is the solid red one a unit commendation? I am a little ashamed to be an American and not know my own ribbons. I need to learn and that is why I am here. Thanks, Chet
