I have recently purchased these two pieces at an antiques show. A dealer had all furniture and these! I am an Imperial German collector so these are out of my area but I am smart enough to recognize what they are. The Italian piece looks to be gold. I was hoping the cases would help to date the pieces. If anyone wants to trade for a nice German PLM let me know!!!

I have had this bar in my hands twice. I did not like the way the EK2 ribbon was done. It looked modern and done by a different hand. The MVO4 looked like it had swords that were removed. I missed the other ribbons. Jan seems like a decent guy so if you did return it I wouldn't think he would give you a hard time.

I have not been collecting much as of late but I came across this piece. There was a discussion recently that I read in regards to one of these and it sparked my interest. This is the small "W" version which would seem to be rare. From what I can see it differs from the one posted by Wildcard but seems to match the one in my little OEK. I bought it based on some poor photos and I will only be out $5 or so if it is a fake and I return it. For the record, I like it. All of the gold wash is long gone but it has been around a while. Any opinions will be appreciated!

Gentlemen - When I bought this bar I assumed it was to someone too cheap to buy all of the "extras". The condition and age of all of the ribbons are the same but the St.Henry has some extra dirt on it from some point in the past. I am out again and have not had a chance to black light it. I will say that in my experience it is a good bar that the owner omitted the devices from. @Deruelle - you mention there is something "special" that disturbs you about the bar - can you share that with us? This came from an older collection and it can go back with no problem. I still like it.

Chip, There are no other markings other than little proof marks all over. It has a wood handle which seems odd. Most I have noticed were black plastic.

Michael, Thanks for that. I purchased this from a guy that usually has some militaria but it is typically over priced for me. He had this BWM and one other that was beat pretty badly and was to an ASC man. I left it behind.

Kevin, It is to: 5547 PTE.J.HOEPELMAN. CAMB.R. As you noted it is very nice with just slight wear.

Paul! Good to hear from you. We are due for another round of beers. Last time was in London so I guess when your over here I will have to catch up with you. The photo is an Austrian wedding photo. I can't read the old German script but there is a name there.

I have been taking a break from collecting as not much has excited me for a while and I went back to other hobbies for a while. Old habits die hard and an antique event came by and I decided to go and hunt it. Over time I have found a few nice things there and a bunch of "stuff". This time was a decent haul in my opinion. I got the documents and coat to the 12th AAC pilot and that put me on a little AAC run. The coat has a nice bullion patch on it but there were no wings. The documents show him to be a fighter pilot that was awarded an air medal and a good conduct medal. I will see what else I can find. The EK1 was a good find for me.
