Hi Greg, I’m still working on identifying the makers of my KTK and found this post while searching Winter & Adler. They are the most common maker amongst the ones I have. However, unlike your wound medal, they are all marked W & A not the WA which is also attributed to Winter & Adler. Your aluminium ktk reminded of a possible mark on my aluminium one that I had written off as a manufacturing mark and/or wishful thinking. There are many manufacturing marks on the edges of my one. useless photo below.., So I’ve just had another look and now I reckon it is a WA stamp in a rectangle on the top edge next to the loop. poor representation below… I wonder if your one also has a mark there? 🤞 tony 🍻

Thanks Graf, it keeps me out of trouble, 😊 tony 🍻

Hi Linas, this badge was a new one to me and I can’t vouch for originality but there were free French paratroopers and this was a design used by them as a beret badge. The badge they used was a British parachute regiment badge with the crown ‘cut off’, literally in most cases. but it seems some were officially issued, on the one below the emblem is also attached, the back plate has a serial number. These are considered rare even the ‘home made’ ones without the symbol on them. Personally, I like it, unless it is stupid money it must be worth a punt 😊 cheers tony 🍻

This award is proposed for Police Officers injured and discharged, I would have hoped it is in addition to existing awards for death or injury because I think this doesn’t cover enough on its own but it appears to me there are aren’t existing awards to cover either. There is an ongoing campaign, started by a murdered WPC’s Father, with good support, for a medal to recognise his daughter’s sacrifice and that of others. There must be others surely but on the Gov Home office site there are just 3 awards listed, one for each service. Criteria for each. My outsiders opinion (never served) has long been that service in the UK Armed Forces is massively unappreciated/unrecognised generally & also unrewarded medal wise. The Elizabeth Cross being introduced in 2009 was at least something. I now see the emergency services are largely unrecognised also. In a time where the awards list is mostly made up of pop stars and other trendy recipients it’s time that King & Govt recognised real service to this Nation. - The real service & real sacrifice of all who sign their lives over to the armed forces for however long & in whatever role. All pay a price. - The real service & risks involved in the daily work of the emergency services. cheers tony 🍻 ps I didn’t expect to send me off on a rant 😊

I really appreciate your help Marcon1, I’m well chuffed you found the photo, it’s even better than the name which I’m sure is out there for me to find… I tried to ask the family for a photo but had no luck. Here he is in the middle Major W.C. Long 22nd (Tunbridge Wells) Battalion Home Guard. thanks again, tony 🍻

Hello Gents, I’m okay at researching some things but I’m crap at finding people 🤷♂️ I’m hoping someone can find a name for me please 🤞 I’ve just spent my rent (worth it) on 2 uniforms belonging to a British Officer in India. Major W. C. Long Indian medical Service He received the African General Service Medal with 1902 Somaliland bar as Captain W. C. Long 66th Punjabis His miniature on mess dress. After the purchase I received this picture from the family which made my day… But it’s one way contact so despite this I still don’t know his name… Thanks, tony 🍻 PS it looks like this but there’s some of this too 😁 Which doesn’t matter because of ithis how sexy is that? peaking round the trousers like that 💕

I share your sentiment, that’s why i love the Karl Truppen Kreuz, unnamed but every one earned by someone, someone out there has my Grandfathers but without his name. Before you move over to the other forum can I add this, although you may already know it from the paperwork… That says Regenwalde, which is/was a place in Germany. & I think the prefix is LIR. This,👆, I thought it said LuftInfanterie but it seems more likely it says… LehrInfanterie Truppenteil. - Lehr meaning teaching (or similar) - truppenteil meaning unit So much info to take in so that may be nothing new and as my previous effort shows… don’t take my word for it! keep us posted 👍 tony 🍻

British helmet marking ID?
Farkas replied to sibfox's topic in Great Britain: Militaria: Badges, Uniforms & Equipment
hello Gents, as a Welshman I recognise these… The Divisional shield insignia is… The 38th (Welsh) Division The double eagle badge was in ww2 1st King's Dragoon Guards From 1959.. 1st The Queen's Dragoon Guards From the RAC site. “1st The Queen's Dragoon Guards began its formal existence on January 1st 1959, this being the day when the 1st King's Dragoon Guards was amalgamated with the 2nd Dragoon Guards, better known as the Queen's Bays. Thus ended the separate identities of two of the oldest and most distinguished regiments in the British Army.” From Wikipedia: In March 1896 Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria became Colonel-in-Chief of the regiment. At the same time the double-headed Austrian eagle became the cap-badge of the regiment, and it adopted Radetzky March as its regimental march. On the occasion of his Diamond Jubilee on 2 December 1908, the Emperor instituted the Inhaber-Jubiläums-Medaille für Ausländer(Commander's Jubilee Medal for Foreigners) to celebrate his 60 years on the throne. Some of the 40 golden, 635 silver and 2000 bronze medals were awarded to officers and private soldiers in the regiment. tony 🏴🇬🇧 -

Hello Rich, that’s a lovely set of paperwork to have. And the translations in your first post are an interesting read and new for me. I too cannot speak German, I’m getting better at ready the writing but one without the other isn’t so helpful 🤷♂️ If I had to guess which is which though… I think the first entry will be the KTK. then the EK next then the third entry is for the bravery medal hopefully one of our helpful German speakers will spot your document and help us out (correcting me most likely 😊) cheers tony 🍻

Medal for 40 years of faithful service with hook H.S. & S.ANG
Farkas replied to Carlo's topic in Austro-Hungarian Empire
A new one to me. It did remind me of some ribbons I have. I took this photo a while back but it shows the use of ‘poppers’ on a few. It seemed odd to me but perhaps their use isn’t as unusual as I thought. tony 🍻 -

Thanks Gordon, yet another variety. What a minefield. I had hoped something here would have just a bit of age or would be interesting, the Veterans cap badge made me optimistic but I didn’t expect them, if they were knock offs, to be quite so poor. Having said that there are so many different looking examples, claimed to be genuine, maybe ‘they’ are confused even what to copy 🤷♂️ Fortunately I’m normally drawn to simpler areas of collecting (hoarding 😊) Cheers tony

I think the 18 on yours might be the year of issue, there is another example of a wound medal , I’ve forgotten the maker (KM/KMT?) with 1919 on it. tony🍻
