With Star and Cresent 1888-90 visit to the Middle East
Christian L replied to a topic in Middle East & Arab States
yes, the commander looks like a Medije and the sash, if going together with the breast star seems to be a Osmanje - so both of ottoman / turkish origin. Christian -
the group is sadly very small ... only a duo ... (if he would have gotton a Vir Chakra or something like this it would be nice on one side but on the other side than i would miss a medal ... so if its only a duo, i'm happy to have it complete)

Hy Ed, thanks a lot for the fast reply! Interesting - so Subadar is the lowest rank researchable? Army Educational Corps???? The reason why i'm asking is, that i was unable to id it and i couldn'T find a "matching" counterpart in the book "The Saga of LADAKH" written by Major General Jagjit Singh. He lists the following units for the battle of Chushul: - 1/8 Gorkha Rifles - 13 Kumaon - 1 Jat. - 5 Jat. - Armour Artillery and Brigade Headquarters but no Army Educational Corps ... or where soldiers of the AEC attached to the Headquaters or Units? At first, i was some kind of unhappy, that it was not a 1/8 GR and that i was unable to find it (thought it must have been some lack of experiance with indian medals), but if its also interesting for you, i'm really thrilled to get to know what this guy did there! Is the research only possible by yourself, or are there some governmental / professional researchers working on military files? Thanks a lot in advance Christian

I have a medal duo of indian origin which gives me some difficulties, as i can not id the unit. It says on the rim: JC - 30074 - SUB. R.N. SOOD. A.E.C. So, if i'm correct the A.E.C. is the unit - but which kind of unit it is, as i do not get closer to it. Its the Gneral Service Medal with Clasp LADAKH 1962. Thanks a lot for your help in advance Christian

just a guess, but could it be some kind of army shooting competition which happens every year? Christian

on the rear of the red cross medal, in the "script-roll" field, the name + year of award is engraved (at least thats what i was told on the medal pictured below). In this case a male person (don't remember the name + 1979 as year of awarding).

Rick, thanks a million times!!! He will be very happy to get so many info - as he was some kind of expecting more or less nothing! And i'll try to force him getting the "Bayernbuch" to get a general overview on bavarian troops. Added the pic with the "put aside" battle-list. Thanks again a lot Christian

A friend of mine who is not really into military stuff asked me, if i can provide him info on the Bavarian Landwehr Infantery Regiment No. 1 (see attached scan) for more information as his great grandfather was serving in there and he would like to get to know more about his military service. Any help is greatly appreciated as my books on bavarian WW1 troops are more than limited. Thanks a lot Christian

oh my good!!!!! this wasn't only fast - it was also more than just a plain name ... and i thought it will most probably not id able and there is no need to post it, as most are not that interested in just seeing the nicly woven hohenzollern ribbon ... i'll have to learn a lot more! THANKS A LOT Rick and Glenn for the work you did! as one of the only bringbacks of the last show (beside books i was somehow to shy to post it as others had such nice ones, that i really needed a push to do so from the "BRAIN" that i went on posting it and causing work for him). Thanks a lot again and hope you can enjoy it as much as i can do Christian

After some talks to the research hero i will post that a ribbonbar, i'm not sure about if it is traceable or not. At least i liked the ribbon to the hohenzollern decorations. On the longer one, the ek like ribbon has also silver wire instead of fabric used for the lines (as the 3rd ribbon of the big ones has). Hope you like it anyway.

Can anyone supply more Informations or info where more can be found on the Victoria Cross looking decoration from Idi Amin? Christian
-
An airforce merit decoration with ribbonbar and miniature - sadly i do not know more about it. If anyone has informations on Columbian orders, medals and decorations - please post as well - as any its hard to find!
-
Yes, these where my suggestions as well - something from the houseorder in last position due to the war merit medal ... but if he placed his piece time decorations behind war time stuff, then the middle one should be non oldenburg, as otherwise the oldenburg house order would be in front. so hessen is a good idea - the Ehrenzeichen f?r Kriegsf?hrsorge 1915-1918 or the Kriegsehrenzeichen? And what kind of person would be behind it? (or at least what could be expected ... to get something from oldenburg before the war, during the war and something from hessen - but nothing from prussia ... as i guess that guy would have gotton a red cross medal from prussia if we talk about a medic ...)
