Hello, at the PlM I always pick up the Lehmann (1740 - 1913 in chronological order) or the Möller (1914-1918 in alphabetical order. These books are very rare.The Lehmann is online, the Möller unfortunately not. I once copied the numbers from the Möller and attached the link to the Lehmann below for those interested. Hello Martin At the higher levels, you should be extra careful. MVK 1 with crown and swords is very often forged. An original of Leser you can see in my post above. Exactly so an original must look by Leser. Other versions of Leser are not original. Regards Walter

Hello, the medal was donated to commemorate the hundredth birthday of Emperor Wilhelm I. The circle of people was relatively large. It was awarded u.a. to all persons of the active army and the active navy, members of the protection troops and also to veterans of the wars 1864, 1866 and 1870/71. I would like to come back to Ferdinand Schörner. At the end he lived impoverished in a nursing home in Munich / Nymphenburg. I knew a postman from my neighborhood who always brought him the mail. After Schörners death, his son inherited everything. Whether there was really anything that was auctioned at the auction house, came from his direct possession / heritage, I doubt it. Every time a known name comes into play, it capitalizes on it. Some awards often appear several times in different ways. As already mentioned in a post, the principle still applies, buy only the medal and not the story. Was Schörner's Medal Bar really worth the money?.... I dont know, but i have a guess. In the 5th position, a Bavarian MVK 1st or 2nd form would fit without swords. MVKs or MVOs had to be returned after death. This could be the reason that it no longer exists. The SW Africa medal is made of steel for non-combatants (please do not clean, but preserve). The condition is relatively good As an example, I have attached 2 pictures. The first shows a first form VS / RS without swords. On the second one you see a first class VS and RS without swords and a second class with swords. In the first form, the MVK has been only one class. Best regards Walter

I have estates where the TM was not mounted on the medal bar at all. These medal bars are always made after 1918 Unfortunately, I have almost no pictures that I can publish. Andreas (Spolei) certainly has several of them.

It really is a beautiful medal bar. Also note the quality of the MVK. The originals all have a real golden front-medallion. The only manufacturers were Leser and Hemmerle.
