    1. army zeppelin badge (real) 30 euro's , marine pilot sleeve patch (rare) came as a lot with 12 other cloth badges,25 euro's. Several other things over the years . Ferg1.
    2. Here's an unusual form of the Militar-Ehrenzeichen 1st class, actually less awards than the Militar-Verdienskreuz. This one seems to be a privately purchased example. Made from what appears to be a glatte arm red eagle order 4th class with seperate medallions. Ribbon ring is marked with three different MMs ! Ferg1
    3. This is probably the rarest thing I've got. 1914 Mecklenburg-Strelitz war cross second class. So what ? I hear you say, This one is has the 'FUR TAPFERKEIT' inscription on reverse as opposed to the more common ' TAPFER UND TREU ' . There were 36 of this type struck in solid silver by Godet (25 issued) to royal family members and such only. This one is unissued ,I guess from the 11 over stock remaining . Still has most on its clear lacquer remaining which has yellowed so giving an appearance of silvered brass but is in fact solid silver .Ring marked ' G '. Quality of detail is very high and better than standard types. Ferg1.
    4. I think it's probably a solid casting rather than the correct two piece. There still seems to be plenty of takers. Ferg1.
    5. Hi guys, here is my example ,in its own little case too. Two piece silver construction (plated over reverse) . Has name ' Pahl ' scratched on reverse ?? Pilot ?? Ferg1.
    6. Hi,nice looking badge, not a Juncker though .I would say it was from the outlet that marked their badges with a small square symbol on reverse (but not always).Maker is not known at present. Silver two piece ? I would guess it is post war piece (1920's). Ferg1.
    7. Second man in from right wears a sea pilot badge, land pilot badge has a slightly smaller eagle. Ferg1.
    8. I had one until a year ago,I traded with Weitze for a pilot badge. He still has it for all to view,it is in my opinion a 1930's piece and not one of the straight pinned copies that Rick is warning us about. Comparing the two you will notice the much sharper and better detail of the front of medal especially the crown. (Weitze's piece) It is in fact from the same die as the ribboned examples. As an aside, I have seen 1930's catalogues S&L or Deumer ,can't remember , showing the first class as a sale item. Ferg1
    9. Hi Guys, a bit of a long shot but does anyone have any ideas what this could be? Picked up on a D-day airfield, about 4" high by2" wide ,has some sort of rack facing for a pinion drive to longest face and variousgrooved /serrated faces to others.Steel with what looks to be three holes running through it. Thanks,Ferg1.
    10. Hi Alex, I am not in the slightest bit worried about the badge,in my mind it is 100% right, and I am not just saying that because I have spent money on it ! If you look back at an earlier thread started by ' Stan ' he shows one of these exact badges but in 800 silver ( which came from the Adrian Foreman collection). Niemann shows an example ,well the reverse anyway, in his latest catalogue it has the square mark on back of crown and different pin shape but is the same type badge. Weitze also has one at the moment but it is polished to death and as a result loss alot of its detail, but genuine non-the-less. As I said I have no worries with the badge it has a slightly darker gilding than some other marine badges I have seen but I have examples that are just like this too ,normal patination. Going back to the pin detail ,it is the same type as the pins on two of the wide crown Bavarian pilot and observers I have ,both by the square punch mark outlet. The badge shows gilding wear/loss to the front and rear of badge entirely in line with normal use. What worries you about this piece? Ferg1
    11. A new one for the aviation badge fanatics out there. Arrived from Germany yesterday. Solid gilded bronze example by the mysterious square punch maker, not marked but certainly from that outlet. Nice detaiI .Ferg1.
    12. Hi Guys, can anyone say if these clam shell screw discs are Imperial period or later. What awards have these type been seen on? Thanks,Ferg1
    13. Here's a Godet marked seond class but with rear inscription of 'FUR TAPFERKEIT' . Godet made 36 and 25 were awarded to royalty and top dogs only.Ferg1.
    14. If you can find a real one then prices vary from lots to loads. Do you know of one up for sale ? Ferg1.
    15. Thought I would show this piece off. 925 silver marked cross by AWS, MM on back of screw nut, slightly vaulted example non pillow back piece. I am selling this cross if anyone is interested PM me. Ferg1.
    16. I see these badges everywhere I go , I counted quite a few at a militaria fair last week-end, seems that every dealer has been issued with a box full to get rid of. On that basis I wouldn't touch them. Fantasy item I would reckon. Ferg1
    17. It wasn't particularly just the pin detail I was refering to ,the front of badge is exactly the same die detail as the square punch badges too. I have some good close up pictures of the said badge (square punch) I will try to dig them out. Certainly my Bavarian square punch pilot example is same detail too.Ferg1.
    18. Although I must concede that the pin is the same type as the one on your badge (or very simular) which opens a whole new set of theories of which I am not going into now because it would fill up several pages + + . But on the whole the badge you show is seen fairly regularly and is questionable. As I said many times before ,I believe that there are a nucleus of these badges that are possibly 20's/30's era I also think that the vast majority have beened ' cloned ' to death (electro-formed) over the years so the waters are muddied for all now. I have handled pieces that IMO are of that period (20's/30's) and also pieces that are certainly ' grown ' in the plating tank !Stick on the side of safety and secure one that has spokes in both wheels.PM me if you want to know the other detail differences between the two types or compare with the badges shown in the thread you mentioned of mine. Ferg1.
    19. Hi Lee, the badge I show is not the same type. I always refer to the ' empty wheel' or spokeless wheel type of which yours is an example. the one I show has spokes in both wheels as well as a host of other different details. Ferg1.
    20. Is anyone here bidding on the cased Bavarian observer grouping finishing today on Ebay? Wow it is sure making much much more than it is worth (IMO) It is nearly up to ?2500 when I last looked. Items in box seem to be fine but I am just not convinced that the box is anything to do with the awards.Seems like a ' marriage ' to me . It's very easy to ' convert ' a knife and fork box or such to look like a fancy presentation box,too easy in my mind. No ribbons seem to be present with the medals and they are just (it appears) sitting in the folds of the satin box lining. Still the punters are going mental to own it,if you ask me it smells unsafe . I would put the total value of goods at ?1200 tops. Hey,ho... it's not my money !! Ferg1.
