Sometimes being a klutz has its upside. Due to a sudden (and painful) encounter between my shin and a trailer tongue I was home to participate in Detlev Niemann's Friday Feeding Frenzy. After the blood and bits of flesh cleared I came up with this little beauty From the baling twine loop I think it was originally intend to sit flat on a desk or table. There seems to be some old paper tape under the more modern masking tape holding it on. The thread holding th bottom arm of the EK in place appears to be Feldgrau uniform thread. BTW, it took nearly 2 weeks of experimenting to get a nearly reflectionless photo.

Mystery(to me) doc
Tom Y replied to Tom Y's topic in Germany: Imperial: Uniforms, Headwear, Insignia & Personal Equipment
From the variant translations in my disintegrating 1897 German-English dictionary it could be a tax/fee for moving into a new house. Anyhow, sounds like it belongs in the lounge. Moving tax waived :cheeky: -
While cataloging my miscellaneous docs I came across this. Don't even know if it's military related, as the stamp is from Schl?chtern, maybe corporate? Might just be a mouse catching receipt I can make out 3 June 1864 and maybe 80 Gulden, but that's about it. Any help would be more than welcome. If it doesn't belong here feel free to move it or scrap it.

Galicia. Now I understand. Damn shifting borders. Who needs 'em? -
Austria-Hungary Ukrainian in the Austrian Army?

So now we have Pole in the Austrian Army in Italy. I thought Poland was Germany and Russia's pingpong ball. -
A friend asked me to make a copy of this photo for him. It's his wife's grandfather, a Ukranian national. What's a Ukranian doing in the Austrian Army in Italy?
