EK 1939 EK2 Non Magnetic Core. Opinions?
robert pierce replied to Steve campbell's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
That's odd, Steve. I never even noticed the difference in the cores until I posted them here. But the detail to the frames is identical. I've heard a lot of opinions around these Paulmann & Crones, multiple cores, etc...Now, I'm beginning to see. My first set came from a German vet, an entire grouping from him personally. The second packeted set came from a good friend who got his from a vet also. These are the only two packets I have ever seen from Paulmann & Crone, both identical. Robert -
EK 1939 EK2 Non Magnetic Core. Opinions?

Yeah, my second core looks more like yours, especially the '3' in 1939. The frames look the same, maybe different cores, especially the first cross. Robert -

Hi Steve, Could your cross be a Paulmann & Crone, Ludensheid? I have two that are magnetic, in their original issue packets, both identical. The narrow, tall beading. The shallow dates, the thick smaller-sized suspension rings, all characteristic of the unmarked 86's. What do you think side by side, your cross on the left, one of mine to the right... Robert -
Thank you very much, Gene. I've been looking at a pioneer tunic like yours, and talking with the seller about the piece. It's on hold for me until I either make up my mind to buy, or decide to slide. I was just curious why yours didn't have the Juft GAB on it. Oh well, they can't have everything. The tunic I'm looking at is very nice, near mint. I need to get some photos to post to have you guys a chance to see it, and give me the final verdict. The collar tabs have been factory sewn, the gull added later. It's also a Unteroffizier with litzen. I'll do my best for photos soon. Robert

Hi all, Recently I purchased an oval flak patch from Kai with the white flak gun on a feldgrau background. Instead of being made of course wool, it's more of a fine felt construction. Were the originals made of thick wool material like the flak tunic material, or is this felt material original? Robert

Jos, that's a stunning example of a 1st pattern. The detailing is really tremendous on this badge. Robert -
EK 1939 Souval EK1.....Variations
robert pierce replied to Motorhead's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Your gallery of Souvals are really a treat to see, the brass-cored versions and the stamped pinbacks. There are so many unstamped Souvals to see, it's nice to see yours. I have heard that the 'dipping 3' in the date really authenticates a pre-45 Souval, which yours all seem to have, except for the zinc. Beautiful crosses! Thank you for posting one of my favorite EKI maker's products. Robert -
