    1. Error correction to my previous post about the ATS waring an 8 point star. That was a typo - the ATS wore a 7 point star. I am not sure about Wl or WAAC rank badges but they might be a possibility too. Terry
    2. The thing that jumps out at me is he location of he ribbon bars. They seem to be placed more in he US location than the British. The Royal Navy for a reason I've never been able to find out wear their ribbon bars very high up on he left upper chest. This is not a great picture, being a little blurry, but shows what I am referring to. Terry
    3. Tony, The HG UTP badge, I am sorry to say it is a common fake. Here are pictures to show the main difference between a good and a bad UTP badge. The life Guard badge is also a common fake, as a real one will have a dangling "V". See pictures. The others are not in my area of collecting, so I cannot help with those. Terry
    4. I have added a three new badges to the collection - Toronto Scottish SA Transvaal Highlanders and the Scottish Transport Regt. RLC/154 RLC Reserve. Several more coming, plus some tartan to go with them, but probably not until after first of the year as I don't like taking chances in December with the increased Christmas mail. Terry
    5. I also have one of those and it is my understanding that is a WW2 Home Front pin. I haven't really done a lot of research though as I just picked it up for my Home Front collection that I occasionally add items too. Terry
    6. Only a guess on my part, but looks like a pouch badge to me. Especially with the for screw posts. Terry
    7. There was a contingent or about 25 FANY members who worked during the days following the Queens passing. I suspect they served in communications as that is one of their primary functions in times of emergencies. The white stripe on their shoulder is a light blue-gray with the letters FANY in ruby. Terry
    8. I am not familiar with this, so have just been going as originally established when I joined. However, if a lighter color/colour was available I believe I would prefer it. Terry
    9. Finally got around to better storing my RN Cap tallies. The four Hospital ships in he Falkland's are all post period, i.e. after the conflict, but still happy to have them. I want to replace my HMS Hydra tally as that one tape residue all over he back which detracts from it I think. The other lot of tallies are all Falklands vintage, and the HMS Coventry is the real gem there. For now they are safe in these acid free pages until I figure out exactly how I want to display them. A friend also sent me a really nice silk and lace RAMC handkerchief, but the silk holding the outer fringe was all but gone due to age and just could not repaired, so I carefully removed the central portion which is all intact and framed it. I only had a piece of red paper for backing, but will pick up a darker, ruby red and replace it next time I am out running errands. I think it will look better then. Terry
    10. I've picked up a few more tartan backings and am looking for some to arrive from Canada any day now. Nova Scotia Highlanders, Perth Highlanders (both Canadian, and 4th Infantry Regt. SA. Terry
    11. Can't answer to the authenticity of the badge as it's out of my area. I will suggest than when asking about a badge it's always best to also show he back of it. The back can often tell more than the front. Good luck and hope it's a good one for you, Terry
    12. A few more badges arrived from one of my favorite dealers in the UK. Tyneside has turned out to be a restrike. Always exciting when new pieces arrive. Looking forward to a big batch shipment from my UK friend late next week...I hope! Now to pick up a few new tartan backing pieces. Terry
    13. I would look behind the badge to see if there is a shadow that matches it. If so, pretty likely to have been there a while. If some other shadow then a put-together most likely. Terry
    14. I've recently received some new bits for various areas of interest. I think the two that top he list are a QAIMNS cap badge finally!!! And, a Princess Royal's Volunteer Corps/FANY beret with officers cap badge. I have been desperately trying to get the officers and OR badges for some time, with no luck. I do not plan to remove the badge from the beret, so am still seeking them. You will see several new Scottish badges and a nice, named QARANC grouping. Also, very pleased to get the P&O Lines officers cap badge and a pair of P&O nurses shoulder boards. My interest in these is that the SS Uganda, a P&O student cruise ship was requested for service in he RN for the Falklands Conflict. Her civilian crew stayed with her and served throughout the conflict, including the P&O nurses who were of great help to the 40 QARNNS nurses serving aboard her. Other items include several WI pins, a FANY pin, an interesting HG pin and a nice lot of Army Chaplain patches. Terry
    15. Millsbomb, I am very familiar with that badge and hope to get one someday. Since I primarily collect medical units, nursing and VAD it is a must have. Would love to see a picture of it. Terry
    16. I think it is catering corps as well. But don't collect that area, so can't say for sure. Terry
    17. Thanks Tony, I know him and have done business before and am planning to start picking some up from him as funds allow. I've found him ot ne a very good seller and a most helpful person. I also have a tartan contact in Canada at a slightly higher price so between the two I feel I can get most of the ones I need Terry
    18. Thought I would just tack on to this rather than start a new thread. Recently received three really nice badges from a friend in NZ. I am really excited to add these to my collection. Terry
    19. Thnaks Hugh, It's getting there. Have several in transit and hope to have them soon. Also, still need to pick up some tartan backing for those that still need it. Terry
    20. I've been working on adding to my Scottish Badge collection and it's grown some since my original six that picked up some 20 years ago. When done I will have tartan behind each badge, but of course love those that came with original tartan backing.
    21. My only thought is that the lace seems a bit plain for a vintage coatee. but might be wrong on that so not saying absolute. If it is a theatrical item, they still display very nicely and run so much less than a real item would. I have several theatrical or reenactor items in my study along with a few vintage pieces, and I am quite happy with the look they give.
    22. My initial thought was BRCS as well. I have not seen those style of ribbons before, but they are very nice, and extra so in my book if they are BRCS. Terry
    23. Some really nice bits in here for my collection. My sincere thanks ot a fellow collector who lets me ship my buys to him and he batch ships to me about every other month. Yep, always a great day when a batch arrives. Also quite a few gifts/surprises and my thanks to the two collectors who so kindly shared them with me. Terry
