What do you think.... http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...45924%26fvi%3D1 A 1866 K?niggr?tz and a 1866 Treuen Kriegern at the same bar? And the "treuen Kriegern" on the ribbon of the 1866 non combatant cross? No long service? Could that be a typical "home improvement" for maximum profit? Micha

EK 1914 Unusually marked 1914 EK2
Motorhead replied to Mike K's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Well,I asked my iron cross "mentor"for his opinion(I knew he has had some of them in his collection).Unfortunatelly he has sold both of them. But he said one of his frame marked EKs was a R.W.-but he also said he was never lucky with both crosses. He said just from looking at them everything was right-no dents or damages at the other side(what would indicate a later added stamp at the frame) and also the patina was right. But he decided to let them go(and he's collecting EKs much, much longer than I do).So what we have is no proven fact that this kind of stamping is really a fake.As I've written before, from my own feeling I like what I see-but what stays is a little bad taste. My friend isn't perfect,I'm not perfect and I'm pretty shure that no one in this hobby isn't perfect.I would have bought this EK,too-he wouldn't.Maybe this is an result of the pure amount of different makers and variations we have in this collecting field. So there's always the hope to find something new and unknown(and we all know that happens more often than we think).Unfortunatelly we will never find out what really happens with this cross, some of us will like it and others don't. One of the "most wanted "makers! Not so easy to find one if you want to buy one.......Since a few weeks I've got his brother in my collection. And he wasn't cheap, that's for shure! But a really nice EK,Jan! Micha

EK 1914 1914 EK1 "Werner"
Motorhead replied to Motorhead's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
With a glass you can see the shades of theJ.H. in front of the "Werner".Unfortunatelly the stamp isn't very clear....but it will be really difficult to find another one for an upgrade! Micha -

And another search has finally come to an end-not in the condition I prefer my iron crosses, but this maker is really hard to find so I had to take this one.Maybe one nice day I will be able to upgrade this one,but for the moment I'm happy with my "Werner".....to tell the truth I'm really happy that this big hole in my collection is filled now! EK 1914 Unusually marked 1914 EK2
Motorhead replied to Mike K's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
This one is a hard case.....First I must say that I don't have one of these in my collection-because I was never quick enough to pick it up.So my knowledge is 2nd hand....I've seen EK2 with similiar markings popping up at ebay from time to time-but it's always the same seller...But(yes,there's always a but...) my "mentor" in iron crosses has got 2 or 3 of them, untouched, uncleaned and as far as I remember all with the same core and frame.I have asked him for pics so with a little luck we can compare the pieces. About Mikes EK all I can say-it looks right to me! Just my feeling about it! Micha -
Rob, some dealers are good, some are bad but mistakes can always happen. The best thing to prevent buys like yours is to know how the originals have to look like,to know their characteristica, the "specials"....Create your own database, copy the good pics from the web and study them. Some books can also help, but what you need are pics,pics,pics....!Have a look at this EK section here-you will find the most 1939 EK1 with pretty good pictures, read the comments and don't hesitate to ask! And not to forget the database at the MCF. Micha

EK 1939 EK2 MM 1 DESCHLER
Motorhead replied to RICK SCHMID's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross

EK 1939 My First schinkelA EK1
Motorhead replied to Nan Su's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Joe, you have seen this kind of Schinkel before.... http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=5611&st=0 I like what I see here-this one is a"good" one with a copper plated iron core and the right pin for this variation.Unfortunatelly I wasn't able to upgrade mine-I'm always looking for the better one .But back to this one-for me it's a fine piece and I wouldn't have any problems to add it into my own collection. Heer GAB "W"
Motorhead replied to Motorhead's topic in Germany: Third Reich: Wehrmacht Medals, Decorations & Awards
Marcus, the only reason I bought it was to keep the grouping together! It's definitely not my collection field so if I decide to sell it,it wil only go with the whole group! But before I will show the whole stuff here Micha -

This one dropped in today(as a part of a Panzerj?ger grouping). Not my collecting field, but a nice piece as I think-and not so easy to find....... Micha -
EK 1939 EK 2 un-marked Juncker
Motorhead replied to RICK SCHMID's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Well, the inner corners are accepted as a "Juncker" special. There are a lot of 1st class EKs marked with L/12 beeing accepted as "real" Juncker crosses. Another point-my "iron cross mentor"told me once that a Juncker always has to look like a "W&L".So when I look at this one her I would say it is following that rule. For me(and this is my own and personal oppinion) a Juncker has got to look like this one! Unfortunatelly I don't own a Juncker Ek,but I'm pretty shure how it has to loke like when I will buy one. Micha -
Steve, this is a really beauty! Joe-if you have got a "26"or a "L/18"with this pin.....I've seen only a handful B.H.Meyers with this kind of pin! But it's true-S&L EKs have got a lot of variations... Micha

EK 1914 Fake EK doc...
Motorhead replied to Chris Boonzaier's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
I`'m not into documents,so if you say it's a fake I belive you-the Ek is areally rare bird....this is the 1st time that I see one of this variation being stamped in a "box".Unfortunately the blued sheetmetal core has lost the most of the "blue" and so I think it's overpriced...Anyway,the Ek is a good one.
