My guess would be a pin of the Société d'Entraide aux Membres de la Légion d'Honneur, but it's only a guess, I've never seen this particular design.

Due to the unofficial nature of the award and not knowing which organization it came from... I can't tell you anything positive. Some similar medals are regularly given out for a simple $5 donation to naval veterans' organizations...

This is unfortunately an unofficial (civilian/veteran/souvenir) medal... I could tell you from which civilian/veteran's organization it came from with a good close up of the stamp.

IMHO, the US equivalent would either be a bronze star or a commendation with "V" device.

Any suggestion as to where I might find some? Web sites? Etc...

Medal for Personnal Achievement 1st class Award of the Defense Ministry (MO) of the Ukraine. Established on 12 September 2005 by ministerial order 547. Awarded to warrant officers and junior officers for excellent performance during training, combat duty, guard duty, internal services and excellent performance in combat training, as well as to commanders of units rated as "excellent" provided same commander also rates as excellent. Must already hold the medal 2nd class.

It's a religious medal from the city of Nantes, the 2 fellows on it are saint Rogatien and saint Donatien. The inscription "plutôt mourir que trahir" translates into "death rather than betrayal". The medal isn't worth much to be honest with you...

They are in fact both full size medals. And as you state, since they're made in France... Most probably for French recipients.

One more question but this time dealing with the palm on the war time issue decoration... I recently purchased this one (Leopold III 1934 - 1952) but the palm doesn't have the proper royal cypher. Is this a variant or is this palm completely wrong for this cross?

I did it again... SIGH... Bought over a dozen Russian medals... Then bought 1/2 a dozen Belgian medals (and Orders)... Then bought 1/2 a dozen German medals... All within a 48 hour period... I MUST learn to control myself. Seems items I am missing (needing ) all suddenly and simultaneously appear! The wife will F-R-E-A-K if I can't intercept my VISA bill next week...
