Hello again, now that the bar and other things from the owner are in myhands here are the better pics. We have here one of imperial germanys rarest awards... the clasp "S?dafrika 1899 1900" for the red cross medal in 2 different makings. With only 30 (!!!) awarded pieces an ultra rare clasp!!! 8 of the 30 were nurses, I would put them away, another 8 were doctors... I think they would have either more awards or must have been too old in 1937/39 ??? So there are 14 sanis in the inner circle of the owner... maybe some day I can get a name. enjoy the pics of this rare piece Heiko

not bad - but not correct... completely wrong side of the world but the other thoughts were not bad. Medical personal was good, China was bad - sometimes there are 2 years between earning an award and getting them.... one more chance for you...

c`mon Christian... put some power in your brain!!! You know me and you know what I am collecting, what do you think is the answer on your question.... there are not many possibilities for getting a red cross medal in 1901 and to know this exactly, I think there are only 2 possiblities.... let me know!!! of course it is the Kriegsverdienstmedaille (war merit medal...) and I have heard that it was awarded on the white-black ribbon as well but I have never seen it.... but when the EK and the Kriegsverdienst (both given for 1870/71) are on the non-combattant ribbon why is the 1870/71 medal on the combattant ribbon???? Hello, I can tell you in some days if there are marks on the back, it is just in the mail and on the way to me... I try to find out who the owner was, therefore the questions. He must have been an old man in 1937/39 because I know 100% that he has got the red cross medal in 1901 - just the name is missing... but I have 21 names to choose from - but if there are no lists to compare the names are worth nothing, or? thank you Heiko

I have bought a silesian eagle 1.class some years ago from our friend the Rarit?tensammler.... of course it was my last purchase from him, poor quality and 100% new... be carefull with him and his stuff Heiko

Hi all, here I have a 4 place medal bar and I must say that I don`t know anything about the 3.reich red cross medal on the right and not very much about the hanseatic red cross second from left... questions are: - how often awarded? - awarded to whom (what kind of persons)? higher or lower ranks? - any lists of owners available? any help is welcome, same for the red cross second from left, the hanseatic red cross. I have heard these ones were individually numbered? Any information on this cross is welcome as well, same questions as for the other medal... thank you very much!!! Hello Paul, on your first bar I would put a 15y prussia service cross... on the second bar it could be a 9y service medal, 15y service cross, Landwehr medal or a 3.Reich 25y Treue Dienste cross.... many possibilities on this one... Heiko

I want to add that he has killed a frack bar which makes it even more "AAAAAAAAArrrrrgggghhhh" because they are muh more rare than "normal" bars.... Heiko

I have only the usual clasps twice, like the Samoa... but this one, it`s hard to say... this one really is still missing in my collection. If you don`t need it anymore some day please let ME know... Heiko

not every single mounting is impossible... I know many young officers that got their first award in the colonies, often Kamerun and Eastafrica, and of course for Leutnants and Oberleutnants it was a crown order 4th class with swords on war ribbon - just as shown. I have several photos of colonial officers wearing a single medal bar with this award... Heiko

I cant`t find a faked 1884 clasp in my computer right now but I keep on searching... here is another one, looks really old.....

Hi Rick, whatever you want.... round ones, flat ones... but they are all too good. The ends of the prongs are looking as cutted just a minute ago, the letters are looking like cutted out with a laser... the latest type of these fakes with aged surface are looking like they were scratched with some kind of tool to give them more age, but you can see it very good with a magnifying glass (if you know what you are looking for...) The problem is that all the guys here in germany are buying these clasps without enough knowledge of them and their history... and the military dealers are a bit confused as well, some of these fakes have been given an "OK" by some Hamburg dealers. I can`t understand this because some years ago these clasps did not exist in this kind of making and now they are ok and hundred years old ??? One rare DSWA clasp like the ones shown is just in by Kalies for 200 Euro... attached is a picture of the reverses and I will see if I can find more examples in my computer... Heiko

I will go through my collection on tuesday and get scans of all types of battle clasps that I have... all sizes, all types of writing, all inofficial and private clasps... there are too many fakes around, all serious collectors should no longer spend too much money for to much bullsh... Maybe we can handle this thread then as a "important one" and put it on top of the list that everybody can always look at it before wasting money Heiko attached are more of these fakes...

They are concentrated in germany, three cities and regions where they mainly come from... they appeared on the scene 2-3 years ago and they are completely new... I see 3 tyes of these new fakes: 1. like mine in the left picture 2. like mine but with a bit of age 3. like yours... same perfect style but material looking aged. Put them under a microscope, perfect lines like from aliens made... I have seen a lot (hundreds) original medal bars from id?d owners or directly from the family and many of you have shown other nice pieces here: NO ONE OF THE 1000% ORIGINALS FROM A DIRECT SOURCE HAVE THESE BATTLE CLASPS ON IT - they are definately new. I will see if I can find a Kamerun 1984 fake photo, but the letters are completely the same with all years on it... here again is a good photo of a good one... Heiko
