Here is a ribbon bar to someone working behind front lines but still risking his/hers life... 1: Medal of Libert first class 1939 2: Civil Defence Medal of Merit 3: Order of the cross of Liberty medal of Merit 4: Winter War medal wo sw.     3. And another butchered ribbon bar Well at leasy I think so, this must be the bottom half of a real fighters ribbon bar!!! He must have foght in three or four wars .... First the medal of " War of kindred nations cross 1918-1922" Commemorative medal of battle of Tampere 1918 Ok, he was in the civil war 1918 and continued to fight in 1918-1922 conflict and more, next medal is " Eastern Carelia commemorative medal 1918-22 OR Aunus Commemorative Cross 1919-22" I think its the Aunus cross But the last one is " Lappland war commemorative cross" and that war was in 1944! He was really a fighter would be nice to have the rest of this bar....

Here is a Finnish "Lotta" She?s got a Liberty Cross nonfighter 4th class 1939 White Rose order/medal Lotta Sv?rd Cross of Merit (quite unusual) Winter War medal wo swords Highly decorated woman from the winter war, I havent got the numbers of LS Cross of Merit awarded but it cant be a lot of them. Too bad theese ribbonbars got separated at some time, 1: Order of the Lion of Finland Commander 1st class 2: Order of the white Rose of Finland Knight If he was a military guy (or she) he would have some more orders, could be an civil servant? but a Order of LIon Commander class wasnt issued by the dozens exactly....     8. Here is an Swedish one 1: Order of the Wasa and Liberty cross 2nd class for civilian Could be 1918 issue or 1939 or 1941 impossible to say with just theese two medals Not many 1918 or 1939 civilian Liberty crosses where awarded and of cause most to Finnish people.

    14. Soldiers and Dogs ! Two dogs here and one soldier with badge, and what kind of uniform is the men on his left wearing? no date.
    15. One more ! Dated 1918, probably in France Iron Cross 2nd and 1st class and Badge Christer

    17. Next Photo ! Some soldiers having fun in front of the camera, they have nr 19 on the shoulder boards. At least two of them has the MGSS Badge. Not dated

    19. Hi just to give some new life to this old thread I wonder how many MGSS units where there? I got a copy of an old German document named "Maschinengewehr Scarftschutzen in Felde 1916-18" in its the story about MGSS Abt 54. I writes about MGSS nr 94,141 and 198 that formed MGSS Abt54 late 1916 The MGSS 54 Abt lost 76 KIA 133 Wounded and 70 POW during 1916-18 out of 840 Officers and NCO/privates And I thought to show some pics of the MGSS Badge in wear from my collection. Hallo, Is there anyone who knows how many RAO 1st class that was given before WW 1? <1910 The reason is that I just read a Swedish Ranglist from 1910 and found 3 Swedish Officers with RAO 1st class and one with 1st class with brillianten. Also found 1 2nd class stern + brillianten 1 2nd class stern 1 2nd class brillianten and 9 more 2nd class RAOs and of course a lot of 3rd class and 4th class I think the Swedish military had a lot of contact with Germany before 1WW.     23. Hi all ! This one arrived a short time ago, and I wonder if its what I belive it is ? There is one 25 Jahre Treue Dienst f?r NVA, MFS the one with the small svord/letter opener But this one seem to be for the civilian version? Am I wrong ? Havent seen this type before Christer

Thank you Graham, I have been collecting Russian, Mongolian, german , bulgarian and Finnish orders/medals and always having nightmares trying to read certificates, and now a new world opens for me. wht didn?t I start collecting British medals 25 years ago But even now when I can read the language I still confused, I understand Remounts was keeping/handling the horses used in A.S.C but what do a Starpper do? I can?t find the word in any lexicon. And one more thing about the MIC , could he been awarded a Silver War Badge? Thank everyone for your help to a novise collector Christer
