EK 1939 Dave B
Richard Gordon replied to Richard Gordon's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Gordon, thanks for the update. Good to know nothing bad had happened. Rich -
I sent Dave a message donkeys ago and he didn't reply and I see he hasn't logged in since early December. Does anyone know if something has happened? Rich

EK 1939 EK 1. Klasse L/56, Funcke & Bruninghaus

Claudio I think it looks different because the hinge on mine is mounted on the side while yours is on the base. Here's a few more pics. Rich -

Nice example. I have a similar one, unmarked, where the catch opens to the left. I love the shape of the L/56 pieces...almost schinkel shaped. Rich -
EK 1914 Imperial C.F. Zimmermann
Richard Gordon replied to Kriztofer's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
I have one the same marked L/52 below the catch but yours is unusual in the hinge being on it's side! Never seen that before from this maker. Very nice and unique example. Rich -

EK 1914 New Ek1
Richard Gordon replied to Richard Gordon's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Guys Thanks for your replies and for confirming my hunch. This was a nice buy-it-now that I just couldn't refuse as until now I didn't have a Godet in my collection. Rich -

Hey all, I picked up this delicious EK1 marked 800 on the pin recently. It has amazing patina...looks like it was never cleaned. The core is in excellent condition with just a little wear to the highlights. My question though is this an unmarked Godet? I was thinking it was from the distinct pin shape especially near the hinge? Rich

Elizabeth Cross

Is this a pin-back award? Rich -
Guys, I'm please that you're enjoying the photos. I do not believe the 2 tunics are from the same person or at least I do not recall anything in the displays that connected the two. I don't see a MC ribbon on the service tunic... there are 2 vertical stripes not one so don't know what medal that is. Rich

EK 1939 EK1 - Right one or not?
Richard Gordon replied to FrontlineAntiques's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Dan, My collection is by no means large and has taken 20 odd years to get where it is today. I think the first one (that I still have in the collection) is one of the Deumers: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?autocom=galler...=si&img=823 Greg Thanks for joining in and confirming on the cross. Rich -
EK 1939 EK1 - Right one or not?
Richard Gordon replied to FrontlineAntiques's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Dan The option to go maker marked or not is a personal choice and I don't think there is any advantage when authenticating. My advice would be to have patience, study the EK1 first to get familiar with the characteristics of each maker and also find out which dealers are more reliable to buy originals from. There are plenty of 1939 EK1 shown in this forum so it's not difficult to search here. You can also find a selection on my website where almost all the makers are shown. (see link in my signature) I personally don't mind if they are marked or not as the important thing is that they are the condition that I want for my collection. Some dealers will charge you more for a marked piece. You can check out the albums created by members here. Here's mine: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?autocom=galler...um&album=10 Rich
