Now, that's a bit naughty!!! I would assume Pinochet and Franco were great buddies. -
Spain will reparations to victims of the Spanish Civil War
Richard Gordon replied to Riley1965's topic in Spain
Interesting subject and one that will raise stirring debate. I read with interest, the conservative view. As the conservatives of Spain are mostly pro-Franco,no wonder when the bill speaks of they come up with crap like Umm, what they are really saying is they want all connections to Franco left in place. You can still see such connections in Spain today. In Conservative areas, such as Salamanca, you can still see the Falange symbol on buildings and references to Franco in street-names. They also have a relief of his head in the Plaza Mayor which is continuously being vandalised and subsequently repaired. It would be interesting for our Spanish members to give their view point. J?ger!

As not all my pieces are cased, I like to group them into representations of how they would be worn on the tunic, etc. For this particular display, I wanted to represent a fighter pilot veteran of the Spanish Civil war. I have mounted these on a cardboard back which has been covered in black velvet. Then this is mounted in a shadow box and hung in my war room. Rich -
EK 1939 Rare EK1?
Richard Gordon replied to Richard Gordon's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
David Thanks for your in-sight and references. I looked them up and found it more akin to the Ek1 featured on page 151. It even appears to have similar uneven-ness of the flange! Rich -
I have seen a few of these posted over the years but not that many so thought it might generate and interesting discussion. Unmarked but utilising a similar hinge and pin to Heer/WSS combat badges often displaying the mark like ??. I understand this mark is often attributed to Wernstein or Wurster? Anyway, here it is. Now the interesting part...look at the flange on the right. Not quite the same width as the rest of the frame. No, it's not an optical illusion! What can you tell me about these EK1's? Rich

EK 1939 Let's see some Deschler's!
Richard Gordon replied to Bill Garvy's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
I agree, absolutely no reason to apologise. I've been there too and learnt the hard way. I had the flock EK1, flock EK1 spange, fake L/63 gold wound badge and the incorrect A.S. bronze tank assault. Lessons all well learnt. Rich -

Richard Gordon replied to Bill Garvy's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
George I hope you are are happy with the cross. It's your collection and if you're happy with it, then that's all that counts. I don't believe there is anything else to show other than how a real Deschler looks. Rich -

Comparing yours with those above, do you still think yours is an original Deschler? -
EK 1939 Let's see some Deschler's!
Richard Gordon replied to Bill Garvy's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Well for a start look at the numerals and position of the date... They are not the same and it sits too low, touching the frame. The swastika is too pronounced... Deschlers are very low and below the height of the frame. Why don't you post a full, in focus, photo of the back of your cross? -

GMU I do not believe that the EK1 you posted is a genuine Deschler. Rich -
