    1. The red background plays with my eyes (when looking at the tab).
    2. Gary! Nice Heer/KM bar! The best part is that you have the ribbon bar to go with it!!
    3. Personally, I would not blow these off as being reproduction. I have seen other tabs here on the GMIC where the owner had his tabs "updated" for a promotion. I dont see anything that would strike me as "bad". If they were for sale at a decent price, I would snatch them up. Paul PS... what is the waffenfarbe on these? Are they a faded flak or are they literally orange?
    4. It is my opinion that they were done by hand without the use of a template...early on. I agree that there are many variations... even on tunics. I tend to think that tas the LW grew, they could have been done by a type of machine as mentioned above. The quickest way I can see these being made is to have a sheet of the waffenfarbe material and have many of the rank insignia embroidered onto that sheet. Next, each individual insignia would be cut off in measured blocks. Next, a light adhesive would be applied to the reverse of the insignia. Finally, the embroidered cloth would be wrapped around the backing material where the edges would be folded and secured to the back. Could you imagine the job satisfaction involved in making these all day long... every day?!!? I would go crazy! In this case, my definition of hand sewn was; "sewn by a machine that was run by an individual". I could not imagine these being done literally by hand...
    5. The flak oberst tabs look kinda dark... are you sure they are not Judicial? They are kinda far away to tell for sure! Paul
    6. That is actually a very good question... I thought that they were hand sewn.
    7. Diane is a definate wealth of information! Thanks for the update!!! Regards Paul
    8. Very impressive collection! The Blockade Runner's set is awesome!!!
    9. Very nice collection she has!!! I like the 1940 Luftwaffe Stein(with the fighter!). Paul
    10. John, Nice job reuniting this officer's career! You have some really nice stuff so far! That was some stroke of luck locating the second batch of documentation and long service medal!!!
    11. Nice looking tab!!!! I have no idea as to what company the maker code represents. I do know that I have seen "22" on a lot of nice tabs! I think that I have a Flak officer with a "22" maker code!
    12. Larry, I agree! Beautiful tabs! I like the Administrative Air Traffic Control tabs! Paul
    13. Strange... I could not find anything like it in the Angolia books. I will double check though.
    14. I see!!! Time to hit the books... I will get back to you soon! Paul
    15. Thank you for the education Joe There is so much to learn... That is what caught my attention(ribbon simular to that of the Red Eagle Order).
    16. I have never seen a War Merit medal with that ribbon!?! You have the best stuff
    17. These tabs are well constructed and I cannot see anything wrong with them... except for the color. I have been in touch with a lot of well known dealers and Luftwaffe specialists. The general feeling is that they are real, yet the color has everyone confused. There are several theories: 1. They are complete fakes... but why such a high end fake of something that never existed(other than to confuse the crap of us collectors). LOL 2. It is well known that later in the war, the LW changed a lot of it's waffenfarbe to correspond with those of the Heer. Although I have not seen anything supporting this specific waffenfarbe, things are being discovered all the time. It is known that there were some changes very late in the war on things like badges that never made it past the drawing board/prototype stage. My theory is that this could be a late war waffenfarbe for Propaganda troops. The Luftwaffe did have a propaganda corps that wore the signals waffenfarbe. I was informed that the propaganda corps from the various branches of the military were placed in the direct control of berlin(I think Goebles in 1944). I am thinking that it would make sense that the waffenfarbe change could have occurred at that time. 3. Reserve tabs. These would have been used for a very short amount of time prewar? Check out the waffenfarbe of this reservist board being offered on the Collector's Guild. http://www.germanmilitaria.com/Luftwaffe/photos/L02154.html Again, any input or conversation on this possible waffenfarbe/tabs is encouraged!! Please bear in mind that the above are just theories. Thank you all for your patience with this thread!!! Larry, I like your weather service boards a lot!!! You have some great Luft Admin boards! The only issue is that the wearer of these boards would wear the dark green Admin tabs. I am still awaiting the delivery of my Angolia Books. Maybe their contents could eliminate a some possiblities?
    18. They could be for a student attending the NCO Academy or RAD. Is there a link you can post? Regards Paul
    19. Thanks Larry. Here are some judicial tabs as well(for waffenfarbe comparison). I would love to find an example for a major!!
