    1. One I have not yet had the opportunity to visit is the Central Armed Forces Museum, in Moscow, Russia. Have a look at its website : http://www.armymuseum.ru/index.html Ch.
    2. This small Museum is very interesting. It is really worth the visit!! Cheers. Ch.
    3. Thought this could help, as in these War Museums are very often displayed orders and medals... with the history of their bearer... Have a look at the UK section... Cheers. Ch.
    4. Please, have also a look at this thread : http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=7393&hl= A very good database for War Museums in Europe!! Cheers. Ch.
    5. For example, here is the link to the Normandie-Niemen Museum (now called "Memorial Normandie-Niemen") : http://normandieniemen.free.fr/Musee_Norma...en_sommaire.htm Ch.
    6. The challenge (or mission) is ambitious, as there are a number of them all around the world... But interesting. Moreover, some Museums are not dedicated to orders and medals, but to a period or event of history and, as such, exhibit awards. That's the case, for example of WW1 french Museums in the East and North of France (Verdun...), La Somme... of WW2 Museums or Memorials (Normandy, Caen... Atlantic Wall...) or the Normandie Niemen's one... And abroad, let's think about London, Berlin, StPetersburg, Moscow, the US, Korea, the Middle-East... I agree this thread should be moved. Ch.
    7. John and Matt, These crosses are outstanding!!!! Congratulations!!! Cheers. Ch.
    8. Never too late... but so expensive nowadays... Ch.
    9. Rick's remark is totally exact; what I described is the theorical system. But when they were created, some mothers have been awarded directly the "right" grade of awards. Ch.
    10. Normally and logically : yes. Here is what was the hierarchy of the Soviet maternal awards : The Motherhood Medal 2nd Class was awarded to mothers who gave birth and reared 5 children. The Motherhood Medal 1st Class : 6 children. The Order of Maternal Glory 3rd Class : 7 children. The Order of Maternal Glory 2nd Class : 8 children. The Order of Maternal Glory 1st Class : 9 children. The Title and Order Mother Heroine : 10 or more children. Ch.
    11. Ralph, Very nice display and collection !!!! Cheers. Ch.
    12. Ed, Are you sure you are not saying this about the medals, only because... you already have all of them in your collection...??? Ch.
    13. Or that... Sorry for the flash... Ch. Pic : ? Christophe ? ChR Collection
    14. And, inside the Imperial Hotel in Delhi, there is not only the 1911 Bar... Just have a look at what one can see in the lobby or the corridors... Ch. Pic : ? Christophe ? ChR Collection
    15. Here is for example the Kabul to Kandahar Star (1880), with a wrong ribbon, the ribbon of the Second Afghan War Medal (1878-1880). Ch. Pic : ? Christophe ? ChR Collection
    16. Exhibition frames #2 to 6 of the 1911 bar are shown in posts #15 to 19 of this thread. I don't plan to post pics of them, as they are more often seen here and there. If any of you wishes me to post any close-up pic of the orders and medals displayed in these frames, please, feel free to ask. I'll do it with the greatest pleasure . Cheers. Ch.
    17. This ends the content of the exhibition frame #1. There is also a 22nd medal of the Indian State of Kapurthala, but unfortunately, I have not a sufficiently good pic of it to post. Seems BTW to be identical to the medal #21... as we can't ahve a view of its reverse. Ch.
    18. 21. The Indian State of Kapurthala. Diamond Jubilee Medal - 1937 (?). The inscription on the medal also says : "H.H. the Maharaja i-Rajgan Singh of Kapurthala". Except if the obverse is different, seems to be the medal you posted in post #80. Again, wrong ribbon. Ch. Pic : ? Christophe ? ChR Collection
    19. Hi Dan, We are very pleased to welcome you here in this Forum. For the Collectors threads, please, visit here : http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showforum=114 Here are the rules to apply : "This area is for members to show off their collections it is not to be used as a general discussion area for militaria. Members should use one thread for each collection and titled accordingly .i.e. John Smith's British Medal Collection or John Doe's Iron Cross Collection. If other members wish to discuss a certain aspect of another members collection a seperate thread should be started in the relevant section. i.e. John Smith posts an Iron Cross in his showcase. A member wants to discuss certain aspects of this cross in more detail. The member should contact John Smith via PM and ask him/her to post the medal in question in the Iron Cross forum for further discussion. " Hope this helps. Now, I think it is time to wish you... good night. Cheers. Ch.
    20. Dan, Welcome to the Forum!!! Nice bases for a collection that just asks to grow, grow and grow... Just one remark : Instead of opening more than 10 threads to display your collection, why don't you try to open a "collectors" thread ? It would be easier for you to upgrade and complete it, as soon as you get new pieces... And for the last one order, it really deserves to be located in only one thread instead of two... Just my 2 cents... Welcome again!!! Cheers. Ch.
    21. 20b Other pic of the same medal. Ch. Pic : ? Christophe ? ChR Collection
    22. Ed, Could you imagine how life is difficult, here in France, between medals and French "ladies"?... Ch.
    23. 20. The Indian State of Kapurthala. (?) medal. The inscription on the medal says : "H.H. the Maharaja i-Rajgan Singh of Kapurthala". Again, probably a wrong ribbon. Ch. Pic : ? Christophe ? ChR Collection
