    1. Hi Gerd, I agree. I wouldn't certainly do it... even if I already got a discount, as it is $84,000 (only)!! But, if I had the money... maybe I would buy it (with a nice discount), just to get a nice one, the time to find a "real" historical one, issued. And, again, if i had the money , may be I would keep both of them!!! Cheers. Ch.
    2. Another shot, taken just before the bar closes... Of course, I am the last guest ... Ch. Pic : ? Christophe ? ChR Collection
    3. A good one, Kim, thanks!! Just have to add that Nasser has been awarded the SN 11224. Ed, congratulations.. Now, it is your turn !! Just take the time to dig in your so obscure files . Cheers. Ch.
    4. Fantastic!!... and for sale, on a well known NJ Soviet orders dealer (Collectrussia) : "Order of Suvorov 1st class, #754. In platinum, gold and enamels. Excellent overall condtion with a tiny nick to the gold edge of the center medallion at 10 o'clock position and a single thin scratch to the lower left part of the sunburst, visible in the photo. Enamel is in pristine condition. It exibits the extraordinarily high quality characteristic of Suvorov 1st class. Serial number shows scratches, possibly an unsuccessful attempt to alter or eraze it. However, the number is still clearly discernable and is in all likelihood the origninal number. An attempt to research it through the archives yelleded no results. Although the number is within the range of issued pieces, this is probably an unissued example. Comes with McDaniel authentication certificate showing 9 out of 10 condition rating. $84,000.00 ". Are you ready to bid ? Cheers. Ch.
    5. Rick, The real 1st Class #597 must match with: * 2nd Class #4159 * 3rd Class #44483 What are the ones listed ? Cheers. Ch.
    6. Ed, I'm not sure, but I think you made the good guess. Let's see what Kim (thanks to him for a good and informative question... and, I'm sure, answer ) will think about this... Cheers. Ch.

    8. Soviet and Chuck, Thanks for the last ones!! Good questions and answers!!! For a while, as there were several questions together and simultaneously, I just wondered if a famous russian female singer could have been a weapon designer, or a colleague of Beria... or the contrary... or the contrary of the contrary ... (Just kidding...). Now, it's Kim (kimj)'s turn. Kim, Your turn, now!!! Cheers. Ch.

    14. Are you sure ? I had in mind that the color film had been "invented" by the Germans later than WW1... in the 20s. Maybe am I wrong... But, these pics are colorized. And the film "World War 1 in colors" clearly claims its pictures and views are colorized... Cheers. Ch.

    16. Last week, in Delhi, I stayed several nights at the Imperial Hotel. OK, what so...? The Imperial Hotel is a high-end heritage hotel located at Janpath, just a step away from Connaught Place, in New Delhi. The Imperial was built and run by S.B.S. Ranjit Singh, son of R.B.S. Narain Singh who was honoured by the British Government for his commendable work on 1911?s Coronation Durbar where New Delhi was declared the new Capital of India. But, what is remarkable for us, medals collectors ? The 1911 bar !!!! The 1911 is the most famous bar of India, displaying more than 100 medals of the Maharajah and the India British Empire times. The history : P.J. Singh started a private medal collection before he handed it over to the Imperial, where over 100 medals are now on display in four golden frames. He is seen here. I will post pictures of them. Enjoy. Ch. Source : with the help of Andreas Augustin (www.famoushotels.org)
    17. Grand Vizir?s personal flag The Grand Vizir?s Standard is a red square flag with black hexagram (i.e., same as the Caliph?s flag, but in different colours). Ch. Pic : Flag of the Grand Vizir. Credit : www.atlasgeo.net
    18. To come back on the Star of David... The hexagram, known in Israel as the Shield of David, was also used frequently in Muslim flags as the ?Seal of Solomon?. For example for the flag of the Khaliph of the Spanish Protectorate of Morocco (1912-1956). The flag of the Khaliph of the Spanish Protectorate of Morocco, was used from 1945 (Reglamento de Banderas, Insignias y Distintivos of 11 October 1945) till the independence of Morocco, 28 March 1956. It is described as ?a square flag, green with the Makhzen emblem in yellow?. The so-called Makhzen sign happens to be an outlined six-pointed star. Though the star is reminiscent of the shield of David, the word "Makhzen" has nothing to do with "magen" or "mogen" (Hebrew for "shield"). The Makhzen is the name given in Morocco to the central administration together with the Sultan?s governmental suite. During the Spanish protectorate, the Khaliph acted as supreme authority as the Sultan?s deputy, under the control of the Spanish High Commissioner. Hope this helps. Ch.
