    1. Rusty, Not bad actually, not bad... but not complete . Answer 1a is correct : this statue is in St Petersburg (yesterday Leningrad). Answer 1b is not correct. I need here the precise name of the location, which is BTW better known by the name of the main building there... Answer 2 is uncomplete. The historical reason is linked to the building I mentioned. Answer 3 is OK. The statue is represented on the obverse of the Soviet Medal for the 250 Years of Leningrad. So, answers 1b and 2 are still to be answered... 1b. Name of the precise location ? 2. Why is there a statue of Lenin here ? Historical reason ? Rusty, others, another try ? Good luck!! Ch.
    2. OK, I'll post the next question. Let's start with an easy one (I hope )... 1. Where is this statue of Lenin located ? 1a. City or town ? 1b. Name of the precise location ? 2. Why is there a statue of Lenin here ? Historical reason ? 3. This precise statue has been represented on the obverse of a medal. Which one ? Good Luck!! Cheers. Ch.
    3. Rusty, I'm sure of this !!!! That's simply called the "Magic French Touch" ... We had a nice and pleasant day together. Too short... but enough to give you some flavours of Paris. Maybe next time will be longer... Kisses to Liliya. Cheers. Ch.
    4. Rusty, May I just add my warmest Welcome!!!!! Nice to see you here!!! Cheers. Ch. PS : No one told you about this Forum ? Just had to ask....
    5. About Karlshorst, I fully agree. For the quiz, who's turn now ? Cheers. Ch.
    6. Andreas, I checked the Mondvor site... and, except if I'm wrong, did not find anything about this theory... Maybe somewhere else ? Cheers. Ch.
    7. Andreas, Bravo for the question and the info about Klara Zetkin. Very interesting to learn!! Bryan (Soviet), Good try!! You were not so far... and you identified the face, thanks to your banknote . Who's turn is it now ? Bryan ? Andreas again ? Any other Member ? As you want... Cheers. Ch.
    8. OK, Andreas, no pb . I will check the Mondvor site. Cheers. Ch.
    9. Hi, I visited the Museum Berlin-Karlhorst in mid 2003. As said, the Museum focuses on the relationship between Germany and the Soviet union, in the villa where, on the night of 8 May 1945, the unconditional surrender of the German army was signed. 2 years ago, this Museum was very quiet, probably because it is quite far and uneasy to access from the center of Berlin. When I came there, we were exactly 4 visitors (including myself) in the whole Museum!! What can be seen ? I mentioned the Great Hall in which the terms of surrender were signed, the office of Zhukov, several uniforms and medals (Zhukov, Koniev), and outside a battery of Soviet military weapons, including the famous ?Katjuscha?. Yes. But... that's not all!!!!! I can reassure you!! All you have seen in 1994 is very certainly still there!!! Thre are hundreds (thousands ?) of historical items!!! Again, I can only recommand this visit, because this place is really fascinating. Just keep in mind that all comments and texts are in German and Russian only !! Even the guards don?t speak english? For those interested in this Museum, here is its website address : http://www.museum-karlshorst.de Cheers. Ch.
    10. Alfred, Back to your question!!! About this woman, I have no idea... Is she Russian ? Ch.
    11. Alfred, Very interesting!! Could you post this article somewhere in the Forum ? Cheers. Ch.
    12. Darrell, Good questions... and good answers. Thanks for helping this thread taking off!! Cheers. Ch.
    13. Rick, Thanks. I have seen Paul's CD mentions here in the Forum and in Detlev's site. Even if for the moment I don't really need the CD regarding my very minimalist collection, I will certainly contact Paul about it. Thanks again, Rick. Cheers. Ch.
    14. Rick, I'm sure you forgot a few books... as your list seems still a little bit short . Seriously. Of course, all this is not easy... and the magic button does not exist !!! But, it is surprising that all these ranklists books (or part of them) have not been yet digitised, to make access to their content easier... But, real books have a "charm" nothing can be compared to... Thanks. Cheers. Ch.
    15. Hi to all, I'm really impressed by the information you get from this photo... I am really a newbie in Imperial German awards and have all to learn about it. For my info, what are your source ? Where do you find all these data ? Is there books, CDs that could help ? Many thanks in advance. Cheers. Ch.
    16. To All, Very nice, interesting and informative thread!!!! I really discovered something, here. Bravo. Ch.
    17. I agree with Jeff. It looks French... But it is not a French ribbon (colors don't correspond to anything French except the "M?daille d'honneur de la Jeunesse et des Sports" in gold, which is not a realistic guess, here). Ch.
    18. Hi Ed, You should well be embarassed !!!!! This site is the best I know about North Korean Awards. Cheers. Ch.
    19. Order of Kim Il Sung (Kim Il Sung Hunchang) Here is a pic of this order, according to the same source. Ch. Pic : Lukasz Gaszewski.
    20. According to : Orders and Medals of North Korea - International Electronic Phaleristic Encyclopedia - Lukasz Gaszewski http://faculty.winthrop.edu/haynese/medals...rea/N_Korea.htm The two stars you mentioned are the Kim Il Sung order. Ch.
    21. Hi Darrell, Something seems to tell me you are right. A quick research lead me to your conclusion : General Vassily Chuikov, who had command of the 62nd Soviet Army in Stalingrad. I let Bryan (Soviet) confirm it and give us more details about him... Cheers. Ch.
    22. Bryan, Excellent !! The face of "your" General seems familiar to me. But, I am now unable to put a name on this face... I have to search . Others' opinions or ideas ? Cheers. Ch.
    23. Dave, or others, Any new question ? Just trying to keep the ball rolling... Thanks in advance. Cheers. Ch.
    24. Hi again Dave, Up to you for the next one... When you want... Cheers. Ch.
