    1. Maxim, Thanks for the proposal. PM sent. Cheers. Ch. PS : BTW, why is the St Andew Cross shown in this book about Soviet awards ?
    2. Just thought that providing the list could help you find them... in searching in the web, for example... Ch.
    3. If someone has a simpler method than going there (Russia), I'm also interetsed in... Ch.
    4. Thanks Lentiay. I'll try to see it on the occasion of a future trip to Russia. I agree with you about these books (and books in general...). I also have the one dedicated to the Russia Imperial awards, by the same authors, in 3 volume. A fantastic tool, with superb photographies. Cheers. Ch.
    5. Thanks Lentiay . I was not aware the edition was so recent (2005). Thanks again. Do you know if there are a lot of differences between both editions ? Ch.
    6. Hi again Bryan and Andrei, Any information on this Mirnagrad site ? Ch.
    7. Hi Lentiay, Which edition is this ? I have this 2 volume book "Orders and Medals of the USSR" by Shishkov & Muzalevsky, Voron Publishing, 2000. But the pages you have shown do not correspond to my edition, and even these pics are not in my book... I believe there are 2 ?ditions, mine being the more recent... Which one is yours ? Cheers. Ch.
    8. Hi Ferdinand, Please, have a look at popst #14 of this thread : http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=3144 I have identified Zhukov ribbons. It should help you... Ch.
    9. As far as I remember, you are right. If I remember well, there was also a "repentir" in his medals (a WW2 Croix de Guerre added after the picture had been painted). I'll check this. Ch.
    10. Ivan and Christian, Congratulations!!! This was a nice challenge, a good one!!! Christian, your turn now ... Cheers. Ch.
    11. Alex, My pleasure. I have sent you the scans of the book. Cheers. Ch.

    15. Doc, I checked in the small free leaflet given at the entrance of the Museum. There is an access for disabled persons : 1 rue de Solferino 75007 Paris. I understand you have to call in advance (and take an appointment - RV, "Rendez-Vous" in french) at +33 1 40 62 84 25. The main access of the Museum is : 2 rue de la L?gion d'Honneur (parvis du Mus?e d'Orsay) 75007 Paris. Hope this helps... and if you need more, please, just ask. Cheers. Ch.
    16. Ed, Yes!!! More to come!!! (Just take benefit of my actual presence in Paris ). Ch.
    17. Doc, Again, I will check this, bur I'm quite sure of the "wheelchair friendly" aspect of the place. You can see an elevator on one of the pics. Ch.
    18. Hi Joel, First, my congratulations for your recent wedding. I wish you two all the best . Second, just tell her that the most beautiful jewels in Paris are for sure located in the Hotel de Salm (the name of the Palace hosting the Museum), and that she has to see them before making any shopping in Louis Vuitton or Place Vend?me... And, again, the Orsay Museum is just facing the Mus?e de la L?gion d'Honneur... Cheers. Ch.
    19. Bryan, I agree with you . I have also some of these bars : they weem very old fashioned and "used". Ch.
    20. Bryan, Have a look at Paul's bar on the right where you have both of them... Ch.
    21. Bryan, Sorry to disappoint you, but the width of the red and white stripes are not of the same proportions in the two orders. And for the Red Banners, you should find a very thin white line at each border of the ribbon... Ch.
    22. What is sure is this collar has been a gift of King Carol II to the Museum, in 1937. It is neither said in the book nor in the Museum that this Collar has been awarded. The Museum lapels indicate when an award has been attributed, so... What is also sure is that the Museum opened its doors in 1925, only focusing on French Orders and Medals. It opened to foreign awards in 1932. My guess : a gift to the Museum, but a gift of a new piece, unissued, unawarded, a few years after its opening. The only way to check this : ask to the Museum. Ch.
