    1. Correct me please, but is this the correct crown associated with SCW-period badges? (best pic I gould get - I had to scale the picture way down to meet posting criteria). Thanks. Scott
    2. Here's mine - similar to those above. Scott
    3. Wow - So that's where they all are! An amazing collection of crosses. Scott
    4. Ed - point well taken. I should have been more specific: I am asking this in relation to how German troops would have earned either the red or white cross during the Spanish Civil War. If I'm in the wrong place for this question, I'll take it to the international forum. Thanks. Scott
    5. A quick question: What was the award criteria difference between the Spanish Red Military Service Cross and White Military Service Cross? I've searched the forum and couldn't find a difinitive answer, although one thread mentioned the White one is more rare and was for enlisted/NCOs only. Is that true? is there more to it than that? Thanks in advance for helping to clarify this for me Scott
    6. I've seen the solid-back KM eagles with the "M"-in-a-diamond symbol attributed to KM insignia. As mentioned, unmarked hollow-backs like this one could be either KM or Heer General Officer. Scott
    7. IMO, not much to be frightend of there. Very poorly cast fakes sold as such. Scott

      pilot Wing

Wow - that's a beauty. Spanish pilot wing made by a German company, probably as a replacement for a German Pilot. These wings were often earned by German pilots flying in the Spanish Civil War, and some continued to wear them on their Luftwaffe uniforms into WWII (and afterwards). I believe the crown on those wings is the 1936-1975 type. Cheers. Scott
    9. Reverse. Maker mark is stamped A.G.M.u.K GABLONZ
    10. Here's one I used to own. Slightly larger than an original and highly vaulted. Hinge is an integral part of the wreath. Scott
    11. Very nice - thanks for the detiail shot of the maker mark. Scott
    12. Any chance of a close-up of the maker mark? I can't make out what is says on the bottom line. Thanks. Scott
    13. Thank you Jacques! Scott
    14. A few more questions if you please: - When did the regulations change the wear of these from the left side to the right side of the German uniform? - Were these authorized for wear by Germans through the end of the war (i.e., May 45)? - Does anyone have a photo of someone wearing one of these, and a Spanish Cross, and a German Cross, all on the right side of the uniform? Did regulations allow it? Thank you. Scott

      LC overseas cap

Are those aviator wings on the front of that cap? Scott
    16. I agree - yours shows none of the characteristic bubbling of the finish usually associated with a zinc piece. Nice find. Scott
    17. I believe the 'earlier' ones were made of a higher quality metal, and tend to hold their finish better; later ones were made of zinc, and tended to have a finish that bubbled up underneath, and often wore down to a dull grey finish. Purists might know of small differences in different maker strikes (I hear the number of berries on the laurel branch can differ). Check the suspension ring on your yours - does it have a makers mark?
    18. Thank you gentlemen. Scott
    19. I really like these badges - I hope there are more out there that want to show theirs (fronts & backs please ). Question: It seems all of the combatant badges have the small "bar" at the top just below the crown. Some have an aditional bar at the bottom, just above the castle turret. What do these signify? Thanks. Scott
    20. Thanks Gordon! Scott
    21. Showing my ignorance/stupidity here: did anyone ever earn the EK Knights Cross and the KVK Knights Cross (with or without swords)? Was it even possible for someone to earn both? Scott
    22. Love the colth (Bevo?) Spanish wings on the officer in post 29 Scott
    23. I pulled that picture of the book cover off the web. Sorry I can't provide better scans of it. Scott
    24. Here's the cover of JR Angolia's FF&F Vol2. Check out the Gauleiter's ribbon bar: 3 political awards in reverse order...
    25. For a moment there, I thought the eagle on his hat was flying in the wrong direction! SCott
